The Ref Stop

Miguel Britos - Watford vs Brighton

The Ref Stop
Knockaert is a complete WUM but you can't do tackles like that at any level.... here's hoping the add a game or two for the seriousness!!!

He was lucky his leg wasn't planted at the time of contact, otherwise that could have led to serious injury. No idea what Britos was thinking, but that was a shocker.

Well done to the referee and assistant. The assistant for flagging as if he was trying to bring down a plane, as if the referee did have any doubt it would have gone then, and the referee for the very quick red card that ensured something that could have been a major flash point didn't turn into one.

Agree with all that, only thing which seemed a little off point was the fact he was touching Britos I noticed, not exactly man handling him don't get me wrong but I'm sure that is dodgy territory ( shoe on other foot we would be telling them to get hands off!)

Big difference between putting your body in the way of an advancing player to block further problems and a player wanting a piece of you!!! The referee did a great job in defusing the situation. If there was contact it was completely defensive and probably saved a fight or something nasty!!

The thing that got me was the way Britos then started to remonstrate with the opponent and referee as if to imply that the player had somehow exaggerated the contact and/or the referee was being overly harsh in sending him off. He was still complaining as he got to the tunnel entrance and had to be encouraged to continue on down the tunnel by team officials.

Attempting to read the player's lips after the red card was shown, it looked like he was telling Scott that he got the ball!
