The Ref Stop

Manchester City v Real Madrid

At one point a City defender picked up the ball for a FK to City and was penalised for handball. There had been distinct whistles at various points not coming from the referee. Some City fans reckon it was Real Madrid player Ramos on the pitch rather than from the stand. If a player made whistling noises, would you treat it as just like a "leave it" shout to put off an opponent?

Very interesting and unusual question;

LOTG:
]verbally distracts an opponent during play or at a restart

Close enough for me.

Would also be getting a report post match to the relevant authorities. As this comes under the category of cynical attempt to cheat (did I just make up that category?) I wonder what the result would be.

I was there and I've got to say I didn't hear anything. Sorry Bacary, but you play to the whistle! Out of interest, where do you sit, I'm in the third tier of Colin Bell so I wouldn't necessarily have heard it?

In terms of the question, surely that falls into "verbally distracting an opponent"? Nothing would surprise me with Ramos....

If a player is imitating a whistle to call for full time then this is already a good case for dissent. If it has influenced a player then a caution is certainly an option here.
But I find it difficult to believe a player could mimic a convincing whistle....
And of course the referee needs to have heard the other whistle.

I was also there and I absolutely heard s whistle!

Definitely a dan blowing a whistle rather than something a player could do mind. Was being blown throughoutthe game.
