Length of ban

If a player is sent off for violent conduct and receives a 3 match ban but the next 3 matches are awarded as walkovers does this mean their ban is served? Or does the player have to have missed an actual match even though technically the match has taken place?

Games have to be actually played and completed for them to serve as part of the ban. Even if a game is abandoned after 89 minutes it won't count as part of the suspension.
