Open Age Kit Clash

Had my first kit clash today. Home team wearing red and black vertical stripes, black shorts and socks (with a yellow flash). Away team wearing pink and black vertical stripes, black shorts and socks.

Spoke to the managers when I noticed, when teams came out 25 minutes before kick off. I tell them I can live with the shirts, but the fact that that shorts and socks are the same is a problem.

Away team normally changes, but they only have 1 kit. Home team grumbles about changing into red shorts and socks. I got the usual 'last time we played them the referee didn't complain and make us change.'

Home team then goes onto win the game 2-0, though I need a neck brace tonight after watching the ball being punted from end to end for almost the whole game, and they spent the whole 90 minutes complaining about every single decision.

I've only ever come across kit clashes at academy matches - had one today in fact. The solution there is for the away team to wear bibs I guess you can't get away with that in adult/league football.

I come across this a lot. Advised that as long as the shirts are different colours just get on with it, forewarn them that getting decisions right may be more tricky as there is a lot of black on the pitch.

Black is easier to wash apparently :)

And I think it's cheaper to buy plain black shorts and socks than coloured ones with patterns - and yes, they are easier to wash and stains are less visible.
