Goalkeeper picking the ball up (again)?

Interesting one at an Open Age match I was observing, and how not been able to find the answer....

Goalkeeper picks up the ball and runs towards the edge of his penalty to release. He stumbles and drops the ball. It took one bounce and he regather it. Referee allows play to continue.

It was the same as if he bounced the ball while running and did not intentionally put the ball back into play.

Should an IDFK have been awarded?

Spirit of game. Laws say what happens when he releases it, but not if he stumbles and accidentally drops it, which imo gives the wiggle room to invoke what does football expect.
I reckon that is play on.
