The Ref Stop

Gersbach Tackle (Adelaide United v Sydney FC)

I'd also be cautioning Red4 (maybe even binning him), Red GK and possibly Red 23.
NO excuse for the red GK not getting a caution, he's run 50 yards to get involved and his offence is so easy to identify. His mere presence at the scene indicates caution. Plus it's an easy sell.
6 reds running in to kick off.
Like a pack of wild animals (aka Chelsea against PSG)

Sorry but you've seen too much there.

Red card that will do!

He grabs the player by his collar and pulls him all over the place!
As clear a C1 as you could hope for.
It's actually harder to spot on Refchat's smaller video. Easeir to spot watching on youtube

Yeah look at it from the referee's eyes.

He's done well.

Ah I see. Yes he would struggle to see that it was pretty fast and many bodies about.
No way that mass aggression toward a player is going unrewarded though, even if I pick a random player from the crowd (by random I mean the one that has p***ed me off most during the match).
Although, as I say, the GK HAS to be cautioned IMO.

Depends what its said on his pre match and over the comms? But it's happened that quick and the assistants are quite far away and by the time he's walking off they're retreating as it's calmed down.

Scenes like this turn the sport into a joke. But it's only because refereeing these days is encouraged to be completely weak that it's tolerated. Absurd that no cards were given, but also not surprising. You generally have to do something pretty nasty to cop a card in these scenarios. Authorities and referees need to stamp this sort of rubbish out of the game.

Doesn't matter that you weren't being hugely rough - sprinting up to get in a player's face is already aggression, and it's unnecessary.

You have a huge group of players sprint in for no reason other than to stir up trouble. You can't possibly believe that nobody warrants a caution there.

Ice hockey fights make a joke of the sport; this is barely purses, never mind handbags. Your mate gets whalloped like that, it's probably a reasonable response for a bunch of pumped-up footballers. It dies down pretty much immediately. As the ref I'd've been happy it ended where it did.

And, unlike these scenarios, players in ice hockey are dealth with

Red card was enough when it's as bad as tackle like that ur always going to get a reaction from players

Don't see your point - you can use that excuse to justify anything. 'Well, I know he just abused me, but I just disallowed a goal, so a decision like that is always going to get a reaction from players'.

Well, hey, let's agree to disagree and each take our individual viewpoints into the games we do.

Personally, I can't see anything in Law that warrants more than a red for the original offence, but if you can then I'm okay with that.

Props, by the way, to the ref in this clip: I reckon it's the speed with which he produces the red that's the key to no further bother. That's what I'll be taking from this.
