Game Talking Points

You're literally the only person I've seen advocate that view. We've discussed it on here plenty of times.
The fact that he's a coach/CAR doesn't mean he's not a sub.
You don't get to 'not' be a sub/player for a portion of the match.

You make things a lot easier for yourself if you card them for an act you'd card any other sub for.

there's some things that you'd only deal with them in that 'other' capacity - but if they do something that you can issue a yellow/red card for, then do so.

Because your argument that a sub can throw something at somebody on the field and not be booked just makes no sense, and isn't supported in law.
This is only one thread I found with a quick search http://www.refchat.co.uk/threads/binning-a-player-manager.9477/
It literally has other views than yours including FAs who treated managerial offences of a player/manger as a non-player offence. I do clearly remember other threads which had good support for treating them separately.

Of course for offence like VC, it wouldn't matter what capacity.

That's different as talks about a player manager / coach. In England the CARs are often (very unwilling) subs so their primary role is to be a player, not an AR. If they misbehave whilst being an AR you treat them as a player, or rather a sub or substituted player. With repeated subs it is even more clear as that CAR can come back on as a player at any time.

I officiate in league's in the North of England and most around here no longer use CARs. I occasionally do one league that insists on them and they're more hassle than they're worth. Since rolling subs (an excellent idea), the CAR may change several times during a half never mind the match. They're now a hindrance since the advent of rolling subs and should be done away with in the amateur game imo.

2 weeks ago the CAR on one side changed during the half 3 times, each volunteer had a different attitude to keeping up with play or even moving up and down the line and some didn't know that they had to stay in one quarter. A complete hindrance. I didn't want them there and they didn't want to do it.
