First abandoned match

Hello, just got back from a 2:00 KO (U21)

Pitch inspection was generally fine, slightly muddy patches, but no standing water, generally clear markings, and secretaries and managers were both happy to play the game.

No rain or problems in terms of the weather, and called HT, 2-0.

During HT, rain became torrential, and we kicked back off, hoping it would clear quickly. In the 50th minute, I paused the game at a goal kick, and spoke to both coaches, informing them I reckoned conditions might become dangerous, and asking them on their opinions.

Within 4 minutes of that, in the 54th minute, I abandoned the game. There was no standing water, but I felt like conditions were dangerous, and players were losing control. After this, I was surrounded by the losing team, demanding I make sure the game is replayed. I informed them I'd report the facts to the league, who will decide the outcome.

Was the way I handled the various aspects of this acceptable?

Player safety is paramount. Your job is to deal with the match day issues - the rest is beyond your control.

Yes you got this spot on.
Got to my game today sun shining, pitch looking great, thought this will be lovely. When kick off rolled around the sun had gone away, after 10 mins torrential downpour started and it kept raining all the way through. Fortunately it lightened a bit and the pitch clearly remained in playable condition, but was ready to stop the match if it had gotten bad.

Doesn't sound like conditions I'd be abandoning in, but YHTBT I suppose. We're all happy to play summer footy in 35+ degrees on concrete ground tho
