THE REF
Level 7 Referee
As part of our referee development day we had to take an assessment of knowledge,(16/20 isn't bad) and here is a question that a lot of people including myself got wrong, just wondering what everyone would put. I will reveal the answer soon

As you have just left the field of play at half time, a player approaches you and shows decent towards a decision you made earlier in the game. What action do you take?

A) Advise him that you will report him for misconduct, as the game has stopped for half time.
B) Caution him, but as it is half time you do not show the yellow card as you are of the field of play
C) As it is half time you cannot take any action
D) Caution him and show the yellow card.

The Ref Stop
I am sure that applies at the end of the match hattersfan. In the magic book, in the interpretations section at the back in law 5: powers and duties, the referee has the power to show red and yellow cards during the half time interval or after the match .... As the game remains under his jurisdiction at these times

The answer is D, I thought it was B but it was explained that the yellow card can be shown even when off the field of play as half time counts as part of the match, it would be different if at the end of the game and off the field of play as the game has ended you would caution him but show no card!

If I've got the cards in my pocket, I'll use them! When I'm changed after the game, it'll be a misconduct report.

I said D. I don't know what else you would do. Also, Ian, why would you have your shirt off just after you left the field at half time?

Don't you take your shirt off when you blow for half time? Flex the muscles, intimidate any would be dissenters with your Putin bear wrestling look? :)

Has to be D, quoting the good book:

The referee has the power to show yellow or red cards during the half-time interval and after the match has finished as well as during extra time and kicks from the penalty mark, since the match remains under his jurisdiction at these times.

Taken from page 71, Law 5, Powers and Duties.
