Dive or play on (Video)

I know exactly what your saying.
But this is incorrect in law. This is not a judgment call. There is no trip, kick, charge, strike, push, tackle, jump!!!
I'd be bloody delighted if my AR came and bailed me out of this one.

It isn't incorrect in law. In the opinion of the referee he has seen a foul.

It is poor decision making and accuracy by the referee thanks to his poor positioning.

By that definiton a referee can never be incorrect in law.
If, In the opinion of the referee, the ball has crossed the line and it hasn't surely that is an error in law?

It's a matter of opinion as Dan says.

If I as the referee have decided to give a penalty, then that's my decision. I don't want my assistant to tell me I am wrong, in his/her opinion. (Unless I was incorrect in law) I'd kindly tell remind them to take their position.

Why not?
Just to be clear, I'm talking about cases like this where the referee is clearly, inarguably wrong; the exceptional cases, not the instances ten times a game where we're on the line thinking 'really ref?'
