Consequences of cautioning the wrong player

I went to watch a ladies team play in the Conti Cup. Referee blows up for an injury, gets surrounded by players from the Away Team demanding a YC.

She gives into them awards the free-kick and then cautions the wrong player for the challenge, bearing in mind this is a team of 4 officials, what would the punishment be?

Depends on if there is an observer or not. If there is, and he saw what happened, the referee will get marked down for application of law. Whether the other officials are also affected I suspect will depend on whether comms was being used, difficult to blame them if not.

Whether or not there was an observer, one of two things will probably happen. The officials will discuss it after and get the right person, perhaps with input from the clubs, and report that person. Or they will report the actual cautioned player and the club will have to appeal it once it comes through, offering up the correct player name. Technically speaking only, the second of those options is valid.
