I have been allocated my first game on the 12th of October and it's a cup game. How do I find out the competition rules like how long the halves are, etc?

Is it county cup? Or league cup? It'll be in the handbook if you have one?

League cup and don't have a handbook

Is there one available to download on the league website? Might be worth a quick email/phone call to the league referees secretary

If your league uses full-time, competition rules are usually uploaded on there and are freely available to download

Can't find them on the website, have e-mailed the referee secretary for my league. Thanks though.

The referees secretary should be more than willing to help. One other thing you can do is pre match is get both managers together and just double check the half length, substitution situation and what happens in the event of a draw. This I find can also be helpful just to be sure they are expecting the same things to happen. Quite often at youth level early in the season this can be helpful as often moving up,through the age groups can mean changes in match length etc.
