Memorial Game

As many of you may have heard one of our well know referees Chris Manley passed away after a short illness, the EJA are holding a memorial Game on Weds the 7th September at our Ground( Brentwood Arena) the kick off is at 730pm where two EJA teams will be competing. It is intended to let everyone in for free and if you feel obliged to pass over a dontation to a charity of the families choice.

Please support if you can he was a very good referee and probably has officiated in a game you have watched played etc

Volunteers are also required to assist on the night if you are available

im only a stones throw away - and think i'm free? (kn ow puns needed regards volunteering and being free!)

Not sure what volunteers they are after ... they've already got at least FOUR referees for the game - including me - and hopefully the full EJA committee will be there - which is plenty - to do the match-day stuff

Other referees on the game are Stuart Franklin, Jeff Stanley and Karl Dunnage

Hopefully it will be a decent game in front of a decent crowd and we can give Chris a much deserved great send-off and raise a little bit for charity

Personally I had the pleasure of assisting Chris a couple of times - including once at Brentwood Town where the game is - and just generally spending some quality time with Chris at cup finals, play-offs, referee meetings ... Really lovely bloke - very good ref - so sad that he passed away suddenly in the summer

tbh Charlie i'm not sure... Chris's son sent me that and i asked him the same question, but he didnt know as he didnt arrange the match.

To be honest i am sure he is fine with it in any case as same info was on several websites in connection with the game, asking for people to contact him with any queries etc
 
Excellent game that ended with a length of the field solo effort - good attendance - shocking referee performances :)

Great that 7 of Chris' grandchildren were there to help lead the teams out

Good too to meet @richard ramjane and catch up with @Charlie Jones

Not bad trophy too .. someone needs to pop down to The FA to see if the FA Cup trophy is still in the museum ..!
