The Ref Stop

Booking the CAR?

After several questionable offside decisions that was causing aggravation, I finally found myself credible to catch the CAR cheating with the flag, so I took it off him and carded him (he was a substitute).

Are there better ways of dealing with the CAR cheating?

Don't really see how you can caution him for this, what caution code would you use? Can definitely take the flag off him, but I'm struggling to see justification for a caution.

Unsporting behaviour.

Yeah, but how do you know he was cheating? He might just be clueless, and he can't really be cheating anyway as he only indicates a possible offside offence, it is the referee that makes the decision.

When you ask a team to find someone to run the line, it is up to them to find someone who knows what they are doing.

On this occasion, there were several offsides that he advised me on that were dubious, of course it’s my decision as the referee but I wasn’t credible to disregard his advice.

A mistake can be made once or twice, but when I can blatantly see him flagging for an offside that I can see isn’t offside, I can’t see how this is a mistake being made, and I can only see it as cheating.

I put it through as SOWO13 (Other) of the Non-Playing Dismissals, yet he came on to play later in the game, would you advise C1 “UB” instead?
Yes. You have used a non-playing participant which is for team officials. Anyone listed on the team sheet in a playing capacity i.e. player or substitute should be disciplined under playing participant.

You'd have to be really sure, of course. But repeatedly, incorrectly raising the flag can easily be explained away as unsporting behaviour.
Not saying I would do it but it's an easy classification of what is described.

What if the CAR was a team official, unsporting behaviour not applicable.

Persistent unacceptable behaviour?

I’ve never had that issue as my area don’t allow CAR to indicate offsides…

I guess similar to how you deal with incorrect throw in calls…
