Was just wondering is it a good idea to have an assessment if I'm not going for promotion so I can see where I am and if so I can go for promotion next year?

You may be given an advisory assessment anyway, but no harm in asking. Contact your appointments secretary and/or local assessor coordinator.

Contact your RDO and see if there is someone who is a mentor and they may be in a position to give you constructive feedback about your performance. Assessors are generally paid by the FA to assess, so if you are after an assessment just to see how you are doing they may well not appoint someone. A mentor is probably the best bet.

If you go to your local RA or academy, there should be someone there who would be willing to come along to a game, I was lucky enough for a level 3 ref to come and have a look at me, and with out his advice then my first assessment would have been a complete car crash, good luck mate
