The avuncular one
Massively unimpressed.

Lackadaisical attitude, minimum crabbing (just kind of walking), holding flag furled, signalling ball out of play with wrong hand and transferring it above the head to the other hand, offside signal not conveying position of the offence to the assistant.

The sort of bad habits you should get beaten out of you in your first season. :)

The Ref Stop
Seems to be a thing with most European assistants. Very 'causual'.

We had a RA session with our local 2b member who said his development step after one game was "your left arm was 5 degrees lower than your right when signalling throw ins". He discussed how European ar's are often shown as what notto do.

They were indeed Italian.

Didn't particularly notice. I can't help watch the blokes behind the goals at internationals.

They must get such terrible back pain. Standing in a hunchback position for 90 mins with only 1 thumb doing any movenent.

Don't think I've ever seen one do anything decision wise. Although saw one take a ball to the face which was fairly humorous

And you never will because there is no visual element to their input, it is all verbal via the comms kit.

I remember watching a Ligue 1 crunch match between Evian and Lyon, the ref was Mr Clement Turpin and due to the Man U vs Lpool kinda rivalry in the game im guessing the ARs were fifa listed too. Whenever they signalled offside they faced up the long end of the pitch for them and had their right arm outstretched to the right of their body rather than forwards of it! I was like 'hmm Jonathan Hunt (my course tutor who kills anyone who says linesman and goes into very small detail with techniques) will not be impressed!
