Not surprised he's on the list, he's a very good referee and I wish him all the best with his international refereeing. Well done Mr Taylor.

The Ref Stop
definitely, still dont understand why FA didnt back him up with the 2 red cards at west ham everton but hopefully he does well in fifa

I agree. Personnaly would have liked to see looking at the ages and experience levels of the PGMOL officials, I can't see anybody else that would get the job. I imagine he will serve more as an AAR as opposed to a referee.

AAR's are FIFA referee's, not assistants. Recall Euro's. Webb was middle and AAR's were Atkinson & Clattenburg.

right, so he will he be on the line for these games? or an assistant incase of things like injury? so confusing this fifa system :D

No idea what he'll be appointed to. But AAR's are the goal-line guys. They are all L1 FIFA referees and qualified and eligible to referee.

As far as I can recall, these are our FIFA guys;

Webb, Clattenburg, Atkinson, Dean, Mariner, Oliver, Probert, Taylor. Don't think I've missed anyone (Foy, Halsey, Jones, Dowd, Moss, Swarbrick all 45+ and Friend & Mason too old to be appointed as older than 37).

Mike Dean next to drop off FIFA as he's 45 soon, so automatically demoted.

No-one older than 37 can become FIFA and no-one older than 45 can be retained.

Hope no-one's confused!

wow thats crazy no-one over 37 and over 45 so basically 8 years you can be on FIFA (if you join at the latest age) then thats it! ive heard our RDO is starting training as one of these guys behind goals etc

Mike Jones was a FIFA referee until recently. He turns 45 soon and came off during the summer, I think by his choice.

No, Mike Jones has never been FIFA as far as I'm aware, but when Mike Dean comes off the list who is going to go on to replace him? Stuart Attwell to go back to Select Group and back on the FIFA list?

Jones was FIFA last season. I'm sure if you Google image Mike Jones, you'll find photo's of him wearing FIFA badge.

No-one will replace Dean. It has to be a Select ref and we have none eligible. Attwell would need to get back onto Select to be able to return as a FIFA referee.

We have the highest number of FIFA referee's, so there's no requirement to replace Dean when he steps down.

Further news.

Mike Jones was awarded an honorary, temporary FIFA referee badge, in order to act as an AAR when no other officials were available. He was not eligible to referee FIFA games, but could act as an AAR or 4th official.
