An angry parent who spat twice in the face of a 16-year-old referee at a junior football match has been convicted of common assault.

Oksana Karaliova, 34, verbally abused the young referee during the Under 9s game between Barr Hill and Moorside Rangers in Salford, Manchester, in December.

Under 9's. My heart literally sinks hearing things like this. The sad thing is chances are that lad will never ref a game again. I know I'd personally be every wary of doing so.

I know its the wrong attitude , but u 9s seems a worse offence than older ....if you get what I mean ?

Does say on the report the lad has stopped refereeing 'full time'. Unsure what that statement means but sounds like he could have binned the whistle. Shame.

Unbelievable, there's another ref lost because of unacceptable behavior, the law has to support the 99% of good people out there, its always a small element that grab the headlines. hope the young ref is ok, don't let them beat u!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sure there is a thread around here somewhere (on maybe seen on a seperate forum) that the young man in question does still referee regularly.
