The Ref Stop
Yeah my thought as well, we all have been in some sort of an academy haven't we in our refereeing career or have had the chance to be with one.

Old hand manager makes comment to defend his teams crappy performance.

No shock

As said elsewhere, fat Sam needs to pay more attention. Ref academies? Wow we will get right on it

Also as I said elsewhere, you want referees at the your level of performance today, give me a ring! You played on the counter, defended with all your might. I await a call.

The comment years ago about being good enough to manage Real Madrid is looking more and more comical.

I would like to see a referee do an interview and criticise the managers and players. The managers would go berserk but they won't realise that that is exactly what they do.

"Our next level should be professional assistant referees. It would improve communication."

Don't we already have professional assistants just Darren Cann, Mike Mullarkey and Andy Garratt just to name a few.

Fat Sam is an idiot. Always has been, always will be. Until Real Madrid come in for him and he manages them...

That's what I thought, but thinking about it they can't be full time. The promotion ladder goes FL assistant, PL assistant, FL referee, PL referee. As FL referees aren't full time then you would effectively be promoted from professional to semi-professional. I know there are those whom you mentioned who are of an age where they are not going to get promoted, but surely with regards to pay they will treat all select group ARs equally?

those three I mentioned above are all full time referees but I know for a fact that Darren cann doesn't get paid, apart from expenses

The only guys who are on full-time contracts are PL (SG) referees.

The rest of PGMO are part-time.

There are a number of guys, including those mentioned above and numerous others, that are specialist assistants. This means they don't do middles at any level, only lines.

All part-time guys have other jobs.

Darren Cann, and all PL AR's, are not paid only expenses. They are on match fees of £750 per game, plus expenses. For European competition, they receive a flat fee for the period of time, in addition to match-fees (more games, more money!)

Nope Darren Cann said to me at an RA meeting that he is a voluntary assistant, he doesn't get paid a salary , only expenses, I think he says it on an interview on youtube aswell, I will try and find it later
