Hi Everyone

So, this weekend I have been appointed to 2 junior cup finals (one after the other). I am refereeing an U14s game with 2 NARs, and am an NAR for an U16s game.

I've never acted as an assistant before, nor have I worked with assistants, so what sort of stuff should I be saying pre-match and doing during the game that I wouldn't with CARs.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

for starters

keep 'em on the same touchline for the whole match

decide who is going to be senior a.r. (to replace you if you get injured)

decide who is going to be 'benchside'
 
Generally, I'd say give them a lot more responsibility. You know they are qualified (and obviously good enough to be there), and so it means you can leave a good section of the field to them. However, do just remember that you are in charge and that they are there to assist you, and not insist that you make a decision they have given. Also, just try and cover all the areas of the game that may come up in your pre-match, I've stolen mine from here! Other than that, you should be fine!

to keep things simple I just say senior bench side and junior crowd side
 
You mean to say that you tell your senior AR to "patrol the technical areas' side" right ;)
