Indirect Free Kick Handled on Goal Line

The laws specifically say this is a caution, that's why it's a caution.

Yellow card for SPA (and red card for DOGSO) still possible after advantage?

If it were a hold and its stopped the player gaining or regaining control of the ball and the ball has fallen to an opponent, then I'd come back for a caution, as it's not for SPA. If it's a hold he's continued on and passed the ball, then no caution as he hasn't been prevented him from getting...

Yellow card for SPA (and red card for DOGSO) still possible after advantage?

At all of our coaching nights, we have been specifically told that is not a caution for SPA. For a holding offense you could caution for holding a player to stop them getting into an advantageous position, but SPA? Nope. If a player is tripped and ball falls to another team mate and you play...

You said yes to cautioning a player deliberately handling the ball in order to control it. So...

Indirect Free Kick Handled on Goal Line

So you're cautioning for every single case of deliberately handling the ball. Good luck.

Indirect Free Kick Handled on Goal Line

So how is deliberately handling the ball anywhere else on the FOP any different? If a player deliberately handles the ball to control it because he thinks its going to help his team score a goal, is that showing a lack of respect?

Indirect Free Kick Handled on Goal Line

So are you saying that a deliberate handball is showing a lack of respect for the game? Because if we're saying he's not denying a goal, then all he is doing is deliberately handling the ball, so should be treated as if it were anywhere else on the FOP.

Yellow card for SPA (and red card for DOGSO) still possible after advantage?

Correct, SPA falls under the list of cautions for Unsporting Behaviour. Whats your point? If you've played advantage it means a promising attack has not been stopped. If you play advantage then an obvious goal scoring opportunity hasn't been denied.

Indirect Free Kick Handled on Goal Line

We are going around in circles because you can't justify a caution using the LOTG, and "unsporting behavior" doesn't cut it.

Indirect Free Kick Handled on Goal Line

You cannot just say its unsporting behavior just because it is. Otherwise I can just say it's not a caution just because its not. The LOTG is there, use it.

Indirect Free Kick Handled on Goal Line

Justify it using the LOTG, not just saying why you think it should be a caution.

Indirect Free Kick Handled on Goal Line

Cant just say your wrong and not justify it. Good luck saying that to an assessor. Different situation, LOTG specifically says thats a caution.

Indirect Free Kick Handled on Goal Line

No, I'm saying that if it is not DOGSO, then it's no card. By tipping the ball over the bar hes committing the offense of deliberately handling the ball, which is not cautionable in itself. It has to meet certain criteria for it to be a caution.

Indirect Free Kick Handled on Goal Line

Deliberately handling the ball is not showing lack of respect for the game. How could it be SPA if a goal can't legally be scored from the shot and the ball isn't going to a team mate. And yes you do need to justify your card Graeme, maybe not on your reporting system, but a justification from...

    Fair play.

Yellow card for SPA (and red card for DOGSO) still possible after advantage?

The offence is the trip/tackle/kick/whatever. If the offense is only careless, and you play advantage, then the misconduct cannot be SPA.

Indirect Free Kick Handled on Goal Line

I'm just putting a different perspective out there. I've actually emailed IFAB to find out what the answer actually is, because really, I'm not sure myself.

Yellow card for SPA (and red card for DOGSO) still possible after advantage?

Wise up? This is not an opinion, this is fact. If you play advantage, you are saying that there is still a promising attack, therefore you cannot issue a caution for SPA. The same goes for DOGSO. This comes from FIFA.
