laying the ghost of the henry penalty blunder

That's not what I was getting at. In reality, you would only punish the player who is 4 yards closer as the other encroaching players are just stepping over the line as the ball is kicked. The referee would therefore not penalise these players but he should penalise the goalscorer and I would...

laying the ghost of the henry penalty blunder

It is clearly a retake, he is 4 yards closer than allowed. Also, you're all very wrong regarding the correct restart of play :P I'll leave you to ponder on it

Liners you can use during matches

Back when I qualified earlier in the season, a player assumes i dont know the laws so decides to tell me before each situation (my badgeless shirt must have gave it away) because first 10 mins he goes to take a throw and says "ref he can't be offside from this throw remember" and then did the...

Yeah, I agree completely with James, what did you actually do?

    Last middle tomorrow

Not sure James as this is the end of my first 6 months, but the leagues I have registered to next season all ended their emails with "have a good summer, i'll be in touch for friendlies in Aug/Sep" etc so I assume that a lot of them are organised through the leagues.

    Penalty or not?

According to Matlock Town FC: "Ilkeston won a corner on the left and as the excellent Yates rose to head clear he was pushed in the back, the ball striking his hand. The official pointed to the spot, an entirely baffling decision, and after the protests had died down and Yates had received...

    Purchases

If you like them to match, think about getting some nike boots, and if nike buys out the umbro contract as they did over here, they will match :P

    Purchases

The spintso watch seems a bit too complicated, I've never had a problem with using two casio watches which were about £5 each. Admittedly, rocking one of those on a matchday would be pretty cool but I think it's too unnecessary to justify the price. As for the flags, be aware that they only have...

Junior/Youth Difficult Match - Could I Have Done Anything Differently?

I've been asked this in every men's game I've referee'd, I always send them in but is the punishment actually suspension because there must be a significant amount of refs not sending them in if each team asks me every game.

    Going for 7-5

Just a question relating to this topic: If you applied for promotion 7-6 and before the end of October, you had done 20+ games with 3+ successful assessments, is the county then allowed to let you attempt level 6-5 even if you only originally applied for 7-6 in Feb/March. Thanks

Apologies if this has been posted previously but I'm lost for words, what scenes! Edit: Should note, this is a play-off final as well

Open Age Denial of Goalscoring Opportunity?

Thanks, it seems to be a recurring topic, they should probably define it properly in the LOTG.

    Hey :)

Hey everyone, I qualified a few months ago when I moved to London for studying. The London public transport network made me think refereeing was a good thing to consider (i can't drive :() to earn some extra money but now its turned into a hobby haha so i'll definitely keep going with it, even...

Open Age Denial of Goalscoring Opportunity?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/apr/04/you-are-the-ref-nigel-adkins-reading#start-of-comments Hey guys, this relates to the goalkeeper passback scenario on the above link. A lot of comments claim that there is this rule that goalkeepers can't be sent off for DOGSO if handling the ball...
