Keep going. They are less fit than you!

    Abuse out of nowhere

If he’s come 60 yards for an argument he can walk. See you later. Correct decision

    Shoved by player

Yeah you should be hearing something about it… I submitted an extraordinary at the weekend just because someone called me a ‘****er’ after I sent them off and surprisingly received an email checking I was ok (obviously I was!), so you are far more deserving than me. Sounds like you’re fine -...

    Rainbow Laces

I can’t imagine anything worse than having to re-lace my boots to get the rainbows on. But if anyone fancies buying me a rainbow lanyard, I’m in

    Second Cautions

Perhaps I’ve been getting this wrong for a long time (gulp) but I’ve tended to reset after a PI caution. All yellows are equal, I thought, so a second yellow for PI would require the same persistent level of infringement, I thought. Are others doing it differently?

    Cup Finals

Similar circumstances here. If my wife heard I wasn’t being paid she’d go ballistic! My reffing cash puts petrol in the car and anything spare goes towards bills/nursery fees. Congrats on the appointment (and baby!)

    Cup Finals

I’ve had the privilege/good fortune to be appointed to a handful of cup finals and semis over the years (middle x1, lines x 6) and I’ve never heard of not being paid for it. It must be a county-by-county thing. But personally I wouldn’t do it for free. Can’t see why I would give up an evening...

Sin Bins - are you finding they help?

14 sin bins here so far this season… been one of those years. Averaging just under 1 every 2 games in the middle

    AR Pre-Match to Benches

I usually go with something like... Hi I’m refollie, but feel free to scream LIIINNOOO if I don’t hear you the first time. Seems to get things off to a good start rapport-wise

    DOGSO

If you don’t want to send off u10 Johnny then don’t do these fixtures. Personally I don’t think they require a ref so I wouldn’t take them myself. Each to their own of course, but if you’re being paid then I feel you need to do the job

    SE Dons Keeper

Is anyone else just abandoning the game given dozens of people are invading the FOP?

    St Johnstone v Rangers

Yeah surely he’s waiting for the AR to come in. But with the not ideal angle and VAR incoming, you can imagine why AR hasn’t flagged

    Fitness during a break

Congratulations! My advice would be to not put a length of time you’ll be out for on it just yet… see how your partner feels closer to the time. I turned up to referee a friendly for my first time back after having my baby about 2 months later. Then my wife phoned need the latest I’ve ever...

    IDFK? (Liv-Ars)

Weirdly enough I had this at the start of this season where an offside IFK near the halfway line was booted directly into the goal. It was Sunday league so naturally players were celebrating immediately. I was very glad I still had my hand up - but there was still some explaining to do (and a...

Open Age Not about you ref

I was told I was having a poor game today by a defender whose team was losing 11-0. Somehow the irony was indeed lost on him

Has to be a red for me. It’s the same insinuation as calling you a cheat. Well done

Club Assistant Referees - Expected and Offsides?

Was going to say the same thing. The old boys leagues have a rule against having CARs at all. All other London leagues I’ve refereed on have them.

Just one more year until RefChat can pick up the whistle! Well done @Ross

    Sin Bin yellow cards

I had a cup game on Sunday, home team winning 3-0 when they concede a penalty in the 93rd minute. A home team player decides to make his feelings known in a loud fashion and he is sent to the sin bin. After the penalty is scored, he shouts ‘well done referee, you’ve ruined the game’ while...

    Junior/Youth First game(s)

Good luck mate. My advice would be to keep it professional and look as confident as you can. Get there nice and early, suggest 45mins before kick off at that age. Look the part - so shirt tucked in, socks up. Big loud whistle to get the captains together, and you’re away.
