    What does immediately after mean?

I never even considered this being anything over than an accidental handball offence. Would peoples opinion change if it was a woman protecting her breasts?

    IFAB changes for 26-27

It's not 2022! In my defence for not being able to read my feed at the time was full of people discussing the count not working.

    IFAB changes for 26-27

Think someone posted that we won't see many cautions for delaying the restart from throw-ins or goal kicks

reffing expectations v reward v enjoyment

Birmingham had a strict maximum cap that applied to both Saturday and Sunday grassroots. Initially came in after on Sunday league tried to offer more. That disappeared and they then came up with a scheme that assistants could only get 50% of the refs fee, which lead to a big increase in the...

    Fa cup

Phone calls an hour before FA Youth Cup fixtures last year saying they'd sent the wrong rules out so it's not just refs. Somehow doubt the one responsible was suspended though.

Sin bins were (mis)used in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round. Including one instance where they corrected their error after 4 minutes.

    Handling after Goal Kicks

FA email with lots if words faying we are going to follow the laws of the game. What were they doing before? "As part of our ongoing support around the recent Laws of the Game updates, we wanted to share some additional guidance regarding situations where a player deliberately handles the ball...

    Er, lunar interference stopping play?!

Even brighter than I thought, wouldn't get a game played in winter if you called them off for light level Some leagues called games off due to the eclipse 🤷

    Er, lunar interference stopping play?!

A 95% eclipse will be a heck of a lot brighter than the 30 minutes before sunset. Fully expecting games to be halted for the eclipse then get completed in worse light conditions

    Er, lunar interference stopping play?!

@RustyRef It's a maximum of 95% eclipse in the UK so plenty of light will get through. Eyes will adapt. If you stop then it may well be a long stoppage.

    Er, lunar interference stopping play?!

It won't get dark, just be like it's cloudy. Unless you're in the South West.

    Law 5 Clarification

@one They're saying the play would have to stay off for a minute as the player caused play to be stopped. My assumption was always that stoppage was meant to mean a non-injury stoppage, and despite their parsing they didn't mean for voluntarily leaving to be an exemption after play was...

    Law 5 Clarification

Was expected this answer. My question "Good Afternoon, The referee stops play for a suspected serious head injury ie restart will be a drop ball. When the whistle goes the player jumps straight back up and voluntarily leaves the pitch. Does the one minute off no longer apply as the player...

Whistle blast before 5 second count down.

@MuffledWarbler Saw a Step 3 goalkeeper saying the referee had told him the count starts when the ball is put down.

Whistle blast before 5 second count down.

The procedure is there for all referees. The majority of referees you can barely hear on a football pitch. Doubly so for the ones who say "I like to talk". So the whistle to draw attention to you is a necessary evil overall. If some refs are doing it and others not there's going to be...

    Injury protocol

No, you make him go off for a minute if the restart is delayed. "Do you need physio". If he doesn't reply in a few seconds or says no then doesn't get back up you make him leave the field of play. ". An injured player may not be treated on the field of play and, where an injury results in...

    Injury protocol

Don't restart play with players on the ground. This is unwritten rule of football but try it and you'll see why.

Question about extra sub- extra time

The unused sub (assuming 5 subs allowed during normal time) carries over in to extra time they then get an additional sub, and one substitution window plus the opportunities at full time and half-time in ET, for extra time. So yes they can make a double substitution during extra time.
