Can an AR help like this?

Yeah that's all fair There's so much to consider/weight up here as an AR before getting involved

Can an AR help like this?

CAN they? absolutely. Is it correct in law? the ref can choose to take or ignore the ARs advice - no issues SHOULD the AR get involved here? Looks like they got the right decision here so the AR was right to get involved but it likely went against the refs pre-match instructions and absolutely...

    Juve Vs Galatasary

they're simply looking at the outcome regardless of any other factors - like using common sense perhaps? watched the game and was virtually impossible to referee due to the constant gamesmanship / playacting / cheating (call it what you will) from Galatasaray in particular

    Wolves v Arsenal

i see this in every premier league game i watch that said i don't think the refs start the count early enough, especially in the champions league

    Tactical Injury Breaks

yeah but it absolutely is in the pro game

    Tactical Injury Breaks

Like the idea of 'sacrificing' an outfield player if the keeper goes down - think that will be very effective at preventing this

    Wolves v Arsenal

If you want to get started on a topic about police resources (or the lack of) I'm happy to do so but we'll be here a while! The two are obviously not comparable, I get your point, but I don't agree.

    Wolves v Arsenal

I'm entirely blaming refs here! Clubs do this because they know nothing significant will ever happen
  9. E

    Wolves v Arsenal

we/refs do not deal with persistent delaying the game/restart adequately (despite having plenty of tools to do so) and it cheats fans and players/clubs out of game time. i really don't know why we're so against cautioning someone in the first half/early on but it's where some of the most...

    Distance in games?

plus every watch will measure differently and come up with different stats... my first GPS watch had me doing 5km+ a half, my newer (better one) has me doing 3.5 - 4km - not changed owt, only my watch!

    Bristol City v Wrexham

...if you're not interfering with play what are you doing on the pitch... yeah i get what you're saying but it's not palatable when goals like this are scored imo that said this isnt new, fans etc should know that this is/has to be a goal

    Bristol City v Wrexham

i can agree that i think it should be offside (if the laws were rewritten) the defender plays the ball because of the presence of the attacker behind him, without the player there i dont think he does the same action therefore no goal...i'd like the laws to reflect that players in offside...

    Bristol City v Wrexham

don't think this is that controversial, goal is correct in law
  14. E

    Aston Villa v Newcastle

penalty goal makes a lot of sense genuinely very few scenarios where it would be enacted (and you'd need some very prescriptive wording around its implementation in law) however each one would add a positive impact to the game i actually really liked the 10 yards/dissent trial - would suggest...

    Aston Villa v Newcastle

Potentially, but definitely lots we can learn from field hockey imo (restarts/sin bins in particular)
  16. E

    Aston Villa v Newcastle

works in hockey (field and ice)
  17. E

    Aston Villa v Newcastle

We (royal we) have turned refereeing at the top level into a science - it cannot be refereed robotically. Every stakeholder within the game needs to lower their expectations in order for VAR (and refereeing) to succeed - we cannot achieve perfection, ever, we'll never have perfect laws and...

    Aston Villa v Newcastle

in an excellent (elevated) position in the stadium i thought it was off live. hard decision? medium i'd say - would expect a top AR to get it right

Man City v Fulham - Hair Pulling

Just seen the foden 'tackle' How in the world isn't that a red? Shocker all round
  20. E

    Tottenham v Newcastle

no no, i want it for everything, regardless of outcome (red/yellow/penalty etc)
