Northumberland Football League - statement about continuing misconduct

I am afraid that this is "last shot" from the committee in trying to control misconduct. I bet the majority of grassroots league committee are run by people well over 60, and they are getting issues they don't / can't deal with. These people will be resigning, but who to replace them with...

Northumberland Football League - statement about continuing misconduct

One of the largest youth leagues in the country has today put the following statement out to all member clubs. Will this make any difference, given the other warnings coming out of County FA's. Kid's football no longer looks like fun, just a place for idiots to come and have a argument on a...

    The one that got away.

Lots to think over, but on this one point: when the shout happened, did you deem the ball in play? If so, then its a YC and the IDFK would be from the position of the player; if not, then it is a YC and the original FK is re-taken. Normally, I would advise that the ball was not in play and...

"PL managers want VARs to be assigned to refereeing teams"

I would go one further - make the EPL managers in charge of VAR. So for Liverpool v Man U make Arteta the VAR. Lets see ow good he actually is and unbiased he can be 😄

    Wolves vs Newcastle

I know I am late to this thread, but I still haven't worked out if it a penalty or not... One angle, it shows the Wolves player kicking the bottom of the new players foot, another shows the New player falling into the challenge. In the RWC, we would have heard the referees explanation of the...

Managing "Fights" for the Ball After a Goal

Something similar I recommend when I am observing. Move towards the potential flashpoint, and shout " I'm watching and the watch is stopped. be sensible". Just your presence tends to calm stupidity down.

    First Step 7 Line

Enjoy and don't **** up..... As others have said, your are there for 2 main reason - offside and ball in/out. Otherwise, it is 90 mins concentration. Don't think because play is at the other end of the FoP, you can switch off. No, you are the eyes behind the referees back and when the quick...

    Junior/Youth Another game

You need to ensure that the fact he refused to give his name is added to any reports. It is not your responsibility to find out their name, they are required to give it. The CFA may decide to add a further offence on for this. AND given we are now in the "points deduction" era for misconduct...

    red card appeals

It would be interest hat grounds they have for an appeal - given the standard for "obvious" that is used for VAR decisions. An obvious error would be mistaken identity, but a reckless / dangerous foul and VC is judgment as is DOGSO; so they would find difficulty to prove on "he said/ they said"...

    OFFINABUS towards me report

The advantage this season is that the CFA's have the power to deduct points for continuing misconduct. While there may be no sanction against the club, they may find them guilty - which starts the potential points deduction clock. Clubs are not going to get wise to this until it happens to them...

    OFFINABUS towards me report

Agreed, the 2nd will result in a charge against the club rather than a player.

    Tough game being observed

Your first 5-4 observation - don't take this the wrong way; but you are now with the Big Boys..... CFA assessment are there to develop you and promote you. at L4 you are in competition with other referees, so there is a standard expected by the players, club officials and the observers. Too...

First Year L4 - Second Observation

Agreed, while an appeal is not a MCS; unless they were so silly claims, there should be reward in positioning/movement to get a credible view of them. The more difficulty to making the decision will be considered in application of law / selling the decision in match control. "One sided matches"...

    Level 4 Club Marks

Yes, it does get better :) First year to the step 5/6 league is always difficult, as the clubs don't know you. There is a lot in the "this referee focuses on..." which the clubs know about and will hinder your performance in their eyes. Also, as a newbie; you will tend to get "lower level"...

    Sin Bin reporting

It is always the club which gets the fine and is responsible for paying it. As failure to pay on time results in the club being suspended by the CFA. Adult clubs will collect the fine from the player; junior clubs tend to have different rules.

Score for match day coaching report

I wouldn't even bother trying to estimate a score. The criteria are not fully encompassing of the game, and How do you weigh the different sections? I would just take the above and below tick boxes and identify what comments the MDC makes. I did one a couple of weeks ago, where it could have...
