    Norway Vs England

Apparently fifa have said the ball monitor (the same one that showed a spike for the goal that was disallowed for offside in the Portugal Croatia game) didn’t show a spike for the ball hitting a wire

    Norway Vs England

My guess is that he stopped it because he knew from player reaction he’d missed something but couldn’t give a foul on guesswork alone

    Norway Vs England

Interesting to hear! They haven’t mentioned that at all on our TV!

    Norway Vs England

A clear, one sided push before the ball came in. With VAR you’ve no option

    Norway Vs England

Correct decision for the corner retake, thank god for the new law. Lucky escape

    Norway Vs England

Never a foul, but Harry Kane will do what Harry Kane does… honestly embarrassing from him. But if he scores the winner, I’ll love him Also, Norway player scored a lucky cross and then stood there with his arms out like he scored a worldy. That’s annoying. Finally, interesting decision by...

    Higher bar for second yellow

With regards to having a higher bar, I've always been taught that it's the way to go in the sense that there are lots of offences that can be cautions in one game if it needs it and not in others if it doesn't need it. These wouldn't really be 2nd yellows. You want a 2nd yellow to be one that is...

    Higher bar for second yellow

Not sure I see any reason for it to make a difference. VAR is only checking second yellow cards awarded, not missed 2nd yellows (unless I'm mistaken) and you wouldn't expect officials at that level to decided to give a 'just incase' second yellow in the hope VAR will intervene if they're wrong.

    France v Morocco

Giving strong vibes of the Kane penalty appeal against Congo and the Mbappe penalty not given despite VAR review earlier in the tournament, but I suppose the difference is, this was given on field, and I don't have an issue with that.

    Mex v Eng

I wouldn’t have a major issue with the 2 game ban in isolation, but without checking the actual figures, there’s have been around 7 or 8 red cards for SFP or violent conduct at the World Cup (and arguably violent conduct is worse than SFP). All of them have maintained the standard 1 match ban...

    Mex v Eng

If you wrote a story about corruption at a World Cup, you could very easily come to a similar storyline as the way this one has gone down in the eyes of a spectator

    Panama Vs England

Tbf, having read the majority of that post, the bit you quoted is one of the only bits that makes any sense ;)

    Mex v Eng

I mean not to brag, but I do know a match official who is in that circle and is as open as he can be when answering questions. If there's something you want answering I'd happily ask them.

    VArg Egypt

The worst thing about all of this is that the Egyptian FA president has called for Letexier to be excluded from the remainder of the tournament. There was a very high likelihood that even if yesterday went perfectly smoothly (and by all accounts it wasn't Letexier's shortcomings that mean it...

    Sitting out Pre season games

I wasn't aware that some counties do centralised appointments of pre season friendlies. Here, it's a free-for-all based on who knows who and which higher level refs get a better offer. I find it tricky to pick up any decent level matches. Additionally, I hate trying to judge the line of where...

    Mex v Eng

I pray to god we don't appeal it. In the unlikely event we go on to win the tournament, it would be forever tainted (if it was overturned)

    Mex v Eng

In all the excitement, I also completely forgot about the lesser spotted IDFK for double touch on a restart after one of Mexico's kick offs! Bizarre one.

    US v Bosnia

I'm sure you can rent a video involving these people from one of those dodgy looking shops with no windows.

    Mex v Eng

Yeah agreed. Think he would have been a contender for the final (albeit probably rare for someone to get opening game and final), but those 3 interventions may hold him back. At the minute, by far the best refereeing performances have come from the English and French officials, but there's a...

    Mex v Eng

Wow. What a game. What a team performance. On Faghani, I thought his match control and general decision making was good, allowed the game to bubble without boiling over, but ultimately did get 2 KMIs wrong on field so that could go against him for final contention, but who knows. I have a lot...
