    Law 5 Clarification

To be honest, I wouldn't be opposed to the 5 second rule just becoming a generalised way to speed up all restarts. Any time a referee thinks a restart is taking too long... 5 second countdown... restart reversed if they don't beat it. Make it a little tricky in the case of a defensive free kick...

Level 4 to Level 3 Promotion / Assessment Days

Theoretically possible if they get enough observations in of a high enough standard, but very difficult. I know a referee who went from 5 to 2 in less than 2 seasons (he got his 5-4 at the end of a season, then spent half a season at 4 before mid season to 3, then got his 2 after a full season...

    Non league match

Poor from the defender. Poor from the attacker. Very poor from the referee.

    pre-season delusion

I think that’s perhaps an expectation difference nationally then. In England I wouldn’t expect to receive a team sheet for any grassroots friendly and not even for some semi pro friendlies.

    pre-season delusion

I think I'm changing my approach here too. I've tried too hard to please clubs who don't give a damn about me, and it's backfired more than once.

    Anthony Taylor

I am sure he'll add massive value to whatever he has lined up next!

So does Britain, we keep them on the Falkland islands.

    The future of refereeing

This was my point to be fair. The player likely already thinks you're a kn*b and saying that isn't going to improve his opinion of you!

    Spain-Argentina

I came away from the game against Argentina feeling no sense of injustice... but... is it entirely fair and square when Messi steps on Spence's foot to win the ball and Spence doesn't throw himself to the ground, he carries on, and they score and win the match, yet in the final Otamendi (I...

    The future of refereeing

The worst comeback in football is when a player said something about the rules and the referee says 'actually, they're laws'.

    FA Cup Appointment

The FA usually send out an FA competitions rules library with a key summary of the bits that are important for match officials as opposed to the full comp rules which are an essay. If it didn't come as an attachment to the appointment, it will probably follow very soon. As above, I'd expect it...

    Spain-Argentina

If I’m thinking of the correct incident, that was the AR, not the ref… but he was sent off after the final whistle.

    Spain-Argentina

Not for the first time by all accounts! Sadly... a Christmas carol this is not... those who don't really see the error of their ways have zero hope in changing them, and Argentina just don't care what is thought of them.

    Northampton Town Vs Coventry City

Can confirm this was from Saturday’s game. Stuart Burt is a Northampton fan, but obviously can officiate on pre season friendlies. I believe Coventry made a request to warm their team up down that side because they wanted the whole 11 to warm up ready to change, for which permission was granted...

    Spain-Argentina

I have never cheered a goal for a team I have no affiliation with so much. What a horrible, nasty bunch of people the Argentinian team are. That nasty way of playing is in their DNA, and I genuinely think I’d rather be England and have defensively bottling it in our DNA. Disgraceful. Barco...

    England v Argentina

And also in the rugby there was a great example of why football won’t want to publicise communications live when the TMO was having an argument with the referee as to the award of the potentially result changing last minute try! 🤣

This really angered me too 🤣 Not the missed caution as it would have made no difference, but just what an absolute knob
