    My First Match day coach

So I have my first match day coach/observer tomorrow. I am slightly nervous, but the gentleman who is doing in has been very nice and helpful. Anything I should look out for to make sure I perform correctly? I'd like to to think I do things right every match!

Second yellow even though he got the ball

I need to work on my terminology and I know it’s important. On the new ref system it’s harder to pin down what to put everything down as. SPA ? Shirt pull. All used to have drop down menus and now it doesn’t.

Second yellow even though he got the ball

Must be something in the air today. 2nd match and another red card I. The 88th minute. Stupid one. Bad tackle and seriously it was orange. I decided on a yellow for a foul tackle and the kid walks shouts his name at me and walks away. I tell him to come back and he mocks me. So I give him a...

Second yellow even though he got the ball

I have to say. Bit of a feisty u18 match today. First half said player deliberately threw the ball at another players head from a throw in. Was so obvious although obviously he claimed innocence. I booked him for that. Then on 88th minute said player goes in for a tackle with a jump off the...

    New season, new league

So when do leagues have AR? I mean div 1 has AR. I’m hoping to do promotions through the next few years and hopefully reach level 4 eventually.

    Brentford vs Chelsea

Hey, I guess it’s subjective to a degree, but going back to the incident in question. The attacker who is offside clearly makes an attempt to play the ball. He misses it, but at that point he is offside for me and the call needs to be made. Especially as defenders, keeper etc….all adjust for...

    Brentford vs Chelsea

Sorry, but that’s not true and was clarified after the rashford goal against city a few years back. Rashford didn’t touch the ball or attempt to play it. He was clearly interfering with play though and so the law/guidelines clarifies to say that.

    Brentford vs Chelsea

The attacker tried to kick the ball which affects both the keeper and the defender who are drawn to this action. The attacker misses his kick and the ball moves to a player who isn’t offside and scores. Make of that what you will, but for me that’s offside. Maybe subjective, but a clear...

I saw this video and wouldn’t mind a clarification

so in this video the ref gives DOGSO and it feels like the right decision to me, but I would want to know why it’s correct in law. Even though there is a defender that could reach in time, the keeper foul effectively made that defender the keeper and hence DOGSO still applies...

    Received positive feedback email

Just so nice to get that isn’t it?. I’m used to abusive parents in a crappy league. Don’t get me wrong, they were challenging in their own way. My only gripe is lack of CAR.

    Received positive feedback email

Some of you may have seen my post on starting on a new league. I was nervous before my first game and I’m posting this not to gloat, but just because it really made my weekend receiving this from the referee secretary saying well done and copied this in from the away team captain. I fear the...

    New season, new league

any advice on how to handle offsides with no CAR? It’s also near on impossible to know if the ball has gone out of play on a close call.

    New season, new league

I found it difficult to not have any AR at all. Judging offsides is very hit and miss when it’s only you in the middle. Guess I just need to get promoted a few times to move up the leagues.

    New season, new league

So just as an update. I had my first game and it went well. Nice facilities and a nice burger at the end. ;) was a div 8 match and no AR Which I found very strange. Div 4 next week. I hope they do have AR.

    New season, new league

I think SAL and AFL have merged although still run separately? How long is an acceptable amount of time to stay after the match?

    New season, new league

I look forward to it then! I’m also not used to having ref changing rooms. Got my bag prepped and ready. ;)

What if you make a controversial decision? Might be uncomfortable! ;) I’m looking forward to it.

    New season, new league

So I’ve taken advice and joined the SAL and move away from youth football. I notice on league guidelines that the teams usually offer hospitality after the match. Is this normal and what is that like? This year I am also finally going to do my promotion. First match tomorrow and I’m looking...

Which system to use for what

That’s a good point. I thought I had to submit match reports regardless by a certain deadline. It also clears it off your list and marks it as completed.
