    Red card violent conduct

I know I got this call right, but I’m looking for some validation. Cup match. Team losing badly. Losing team defender gets fouled and I award a free kick. Was a minor foul. Said defender walks towards attacker and attempts to elbow attacker in the face. Just about grazed him but no real...

    Contact lenses

Reffed my first match using contact lenses. Have to say I found it liberating. 2 more today. ;)

    Contact lenses

I’m sure plenty of prem referees wear glasses and use contacts during the matches. Must be ok in flood lights. Well that’s my logic anyway.

    Contact lenses

Thanks. It was just all the warnings I got about water getting in your eye from the doc! Due to my prescription I had to use 30 day ones so I’m getting used to taking them in and out a bit. ;) Multifocal is just amazing tech in a contact lens. I can see at distance and I can read my ref app...

    Contact lenses

So after so many matches with glasses and any rain means I have to take them off and risk having my decisions questioned. So after advice from a match day coach, I’m now trying contact lenses. Any advice? Should I wear a cap when it rains? Take them out straight after if it rains? What’s...

    Off the ground tackle

    Studs out makes it dangerous.

    Man Utd v Everton

I would add, that it’s stupid either way. Raise your hands onto another players face and you are asking for the ref to make a decision.

    Man Utd v Everton

I’m not sure I would have given a red. Was it with force? Was it a slap or more of a face push? Interested to hear what everyone thinks.

    Off the ground tackle

So I agree with you and in all instances I have a yellow and not a red as studs weren’t out. Once I gave the first one, I had set my stall out and had to maintain that throughout the match. If they had connected with the player though…..I would issue a red as off the ground with force is...

    Off the ground tackle

I always think that off the ground is asking for trouble.

    Off the ground tackle

Just need to know what the correct procedure is here as players defending their actions have me questioning myself. Off the ground tackle where they get the ball. I had 3 in the match First one - off the ground (jumps up before slide), gets the ball. Other player withdrew from challenge when...

    City vs Liverpool

The player is right in front of the keeper. Arguably making more of an impact on the keeper.

    City vs Liverpool

That’s exactly the goal I was thinking of!!! Why was this given? It’s the inconsistency that always angers people.

    City vs Liverpool

I would agree with you, but again it’s inconsistency. Last season I remember a goal being allowed where the attacker was clearly blocking the goal keepers vision. In this case, I could argue that the attacker made no difference to the keeper.

    Forrest vs United

I don’t see how it’s not. Arm is outstretched ball comes down from a height and lands on his arm. It’s quite foreseeable that he will handle the ball. I’m not saying it should be handball. I’m asking for clarification on why it isn’t under law/guidance.

    Forrest vs United

Only if it touched his head on the way. Otherwise a slow moving ball like that would be an excuse for handball.

    Forrest vs United

Regardless of natural position, it’s not coming at him at pace. That can’t always be an excuse. My only thought is it may have clipped his head first?

    Forrest vs United

I think the AR was not quite in line, but it’s a tough call and he made it. Right or wrong it stands and has to be respected. Forrest has a chance to defend the corner and didn’t. I’m no convinced that the handball wasn’t handball though.

    Forrest vs United

just watched MOTD. United score from a corner that wasn’t never a corner as the ball didn’t go out of play. I actually don’t have an issue with the AR getting it wrong, but if he wasn’t sired surely let it run? I’m sure ref got it right, but I’m not sure why on the amad handball! Arm was out...

Quick indirect free kick inside the box

I saw another video in prem league where the ref wouldn’t allow the quick indirect free kick. Not sure what the right thing is.
