    Spain v Austria

Disallowed goal for Cucurella. Don’t see anything wrong there if I’m honest.

    England Vs DR Congo

I’m usually sceptical of this sort of commentary but if that’s verified he’s definitely done for this tournament. By all means review and stick with decision but to wave away when recommended? That’s a major breach of protocols

Carney likes to stir stuff up 😆

It’s one of those where you collect your fee after the game and go home…..

    England Vs DR Congo

Controversial opinion time: Social media: “ Why’s Jordan Henderson in the squad?” These performances are why Jordan Henderson is in the squad. He brings that tightness, discipline and assuredness that stops the centre halves wandering off like they did for the goal. Or at least gets in there...

    England Vs DR Congo

I’m in shock at that non review for the penalty incident.

    Norway - France

Real time looks a penalty. Then on replay one angle looks like attacker initiates contact - if we’re being generous ( or dives to ensure it if we’re not). Yet another angle makes it look like a foul. Is that a crystal clear case of subjective? Natural justice done with the save I suppose.

    Norway - France

The perfect advantage. Goal was pretty good too.

    Belgium - Iran

I’d thought that initially and then ruled it out because of the prevailing commentary. Someone else thinking the same means I might not be wrong.

    Belgium - Iran

Turgid first half aside from the clever free kick routine. Early in second half Trossard has studs raked down his calf and Achilles. Free kick given but no review nor even a caution. To say I’m surprised is an understatement particularly given the early Lukaku caution ( no issue with that by...

    England v Croatia

These high sided stadia really are affecting the camera perspective. Lost count of the amount of times it’s looked wrong and been shown to be right and we’re still in the first round of fixtures.

    Germany vs Curacao

They wanted CUC for TV, but heard a certain political figure might take umbrage at an implied slight…

how to get better at spotting fouls quickly?

An underrated quality. I’d also add not to be too hard on yourself. While experience isn’t a passive skill - you won’t get better just by doing more games, you do have to work at it - the more you back yourself to be in the right place and be able to detect fouls, the more it will become...

    Turkey v Northern Ireland

Must be, because otherwise that’s as clear a DOGSO by handling as I’ve seen in a while.

Referee X need to change his tag 😉 I lined with him before he was famous. 😆

    Your Card Stats

43 games 26 cautions 5 reds Breaks down as 2x OFFINABUS, 2 x double caution and a DOGSO-H The DOGSO Red was the only card in that game, and the only game to have 1 card. I’d have a cluster of games with multiple cards then a spell of games with none at all.

    Sunderland vs Chelsea

Think of it like it’s lunchtime. You’re in a chain sandwich shop. Collwill is the grab and go customer in front of you, whereas Fofana is the grab, put back, grab something else and put pack and then finally grabs something else and is your line of sight all the way. That’s the one that stands...

Opinion on Young Refs: too much coddling, not enough learning

Contrarian observation: This is one of the frequent criticisms of the FA CORE programme in England at least. Referees know the law and where to be and how to signal, but are critiqued as automatons, robotic and lacking “understanding” of the game. I’m not sure I recognise the “coddling”...
