Advice on handling interactions with players

Interesting technique I saw once when I was watching a game was the ref answering by asking the coach “why do you think it is/isn’t a foul?”. Not one I’ve ever used but seemed to work for him.

    Cutting the Grass

A shake of the head tends to work for me, often accompanied with a “No foul!”.

Junior/Youth New Ref... First match 9v9 advice

Yep - it's either "come on ref, you've just given it because they're appealing for it" or "come on ref, no-one even claimed for that". Can't win either way!

    Red or Yellow

    Yellow (stopping a promising attack)

    Norwich v Leicester

The attacker was standing in an offside position - not in itself an offence as you say. However, as he was in the line of vision of the goalkeeper whilst standing in an offside position it was an offside offence.

    Foreign Object - DOGso

To me if the goal area is so waterlogged that it would affect the game in this way then I’m calling the game off

Who says referees don't have a sense of humour? :)

    Euros

Surely that’s not legitimate justification for that penalty though?

    Sold Various Tops

I have four tops I first picked up when I started, and having now purchased newer tops these are gathering dust at home. They have all been worn, but are still in good condition. The black and yellow ones are a medium, whilst the red one is a small. Send me a PM if you're interested in any...

    Denmark vs Belgium

I’d agree. It didn’t seem like a foul at all.

Ball hitting referee Italy v Turkey

It was ok because an Italian player played it initially and then it fell to another Italian player. If it had hit the referee and then fallen to a Turkish player, then it would be a drop ball to Italy.

    Kids And Wearing Spectacles (Again!!)

The ref isn’t challenging for headers etc

    Tottenham V Man Utd

Looked very similar to the McTominay incident. I wouldn’t give it, but when they later gave the McTominay incident it made me wonder why Pogba wasn’t punished.

    McTominay on Son

I’m completely neutral club-wise, however I agree with both of you. It seemed a natural movement from McTominay to hold off Son.

    First match back

Same here - typical SFA. 🙄

    Scotland v Austria

Glad to hear it. I tried to view it without Saltire-tinted glasses to see if there was something I was missing, but it’s good to know I don’t seem to be missing anything. Overall I’m not too bothered, as a draw was probably a fair result overall.

    Scotland v Austria

Scottish penalty claim turned down last night? (Roughly 2:15 in below)

    Southampton v Brighton

Me as well. I was watching it with my Dad and brother at the time, and when I explained my surprise at it, they agreed as well.

    Wengers/FIFA’s offside proposal

    Completely agree on both points

    Wengers/FIFA’s offside proposal

No - me as well. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve said this to people. All that changing OS does is shift the problem as you say.
