    Reffing your old team

I play on Sundays and I’ve asked to not referee a Saturday team because half of our team play for them. Apparently it isn’t technically a conflict, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable refereeing my own teammates

When to switch to Open Age?

I’d definitely get more experience first. Of course, you will ‘learn on the job’ because adult football is completely different - you can practice youth as long as you want and you’ll find different situations crop up in adults. I think just getting your authority level up and improving general...

    Another buzzer flag thread...

I’ve been in the middle of 3s a lot, so the vast majority of the time has been without buzzers. I've used them enough though to know how valuable they can be. Think I'll probably look for a good Touchline deal, although they are very hard to find!

    Thanks! Will definitely consider them

What's the quality like? So far, out of all the ones I've used, Touchline are clearly the highest quality. Although I'm not sure if I've ever used the RefStop ones

I do - and higher, although I know how hard that is to achieve

    Another buzzer flag thread...

I do get that, but over the years, I’ve middled a lot without buzzers. A lot of 5s have them here and whenever I get the opportunity to use them, I do get jealous! I’m not overly desperate, but I do enjoy using them

    Another buzzer flag thread...

I always said that, if I got to L5, I'd look at getting buzzers. I recently got it, and I'll now be in the middle of a 3 more often. Are there any decent deals out there? I know Touchline are the best but I'm not sure I can justify £550 while I'm a 5. I've been looking for second hand ones...

I thought the first one was a penalty too. Surprised the commentators dismissed it so quickly compared to the second

    PNE v LEE

Feel like that’s the fairest outcome but one that you’d never expect or see

    PNE v LEE

Although it’s definitely the correct decision, I don’t like that it’s a red. The way it is benefits players who purposefully wind up opponents, cause situations and makes things difficult for the referee. He’s pushed the keeper with a decent amount of force. The keeper then reacts with a...

    PNE v LEE

It’s a red, but he’s also played for it. Ironically there’s more force in the push than the reaction, but everyone knows you can’t go for the face…

    Barnsley vs Wycombe

I don’t think it’s a foul, even ‘challenging’ is a stretch (although can see the argument for it). He’s very softly bumped into him after closing him down before he picked up the ball. Even the goalkeeper is embarrassed and I don’t think expects the goal to be ruled out. Note how none of the...

    Newcastle Vs Arsenal

Club statement from Arsenal… I think they’ve done a great deflecting/distraction job to make the focus all about the referees, rather than the defeat

    Newcastle Vs Arsenal

I thought that was really good from VAR. Inconclusive on the in/out. Obviously not offside with the technology (I actually thought it was going to get disallowed for this). I think the push is possibly a foul, but happens so often in a game and is unpunished. For me, the defender’s already...

    Beckham red

Personally, I don’t agree. The force of the challenge on Beckham was 20x more than the flick out. Even Simeone himself said it wasn’t a card. I think sending off a player for a light flick after being on the receiving end of a deliberately heavy foul isn’t very fair
