    Continuation holding and DOGSO

They were responding with an outcome to my scenario where that didn't happen.. Suppose they could've thought I was asking if you can give a penalty after stopping play outside the penalty area 🤣

    Continuation holding and DOGSO

My follow-on question. Have to lead the horse to water to get a clear(er) answer from them "Law 12 says if holding continues into the penalty area then the offence MUST be penalised with a penalty kick. Unless you've whistled before they get in to the penalty area I don't see how the second...

    Continuation holding and DOGSO

I know. Seems to me it's not an advantage thats the choice of the referee it's automatic. I'm awaiting their further reply

    Continuation holding and DOGSO

You can't give a red and a penalty is what I got from it but they're saying you can choose either of those options 🤷.

    Birmingham City v WBA

He doesn't attempt to play the ball, he ducks under it but that's enough for obvious action similar to Robertson one. If you're touch tight to the goalkeeper when your player heads it these should be offside whatever the subsequent action.

    Continuation holding and DOGSO

IFAB response "Good morning Thank you for your e mail and question. The outcomes could be: Penalise the ‘start’ of the offence = free kick and red card for DOGSO Play advantage for start of the offence = penalty kick and caution (YC)*

    Sheff Utd v Middlesbrough

Happens a lot. Alternatives probably clashed with the kits, and they can't make the home team change 'keeper change jf they don't want to afaik. The obligatory prematch "sure you won't be next to each other during the game"

They brief him probably trying to show they aren't as strict. The briefed view of the Brentford one as a non-deliberate handball where he moved his arm towards the ball is a particular favourite from this article.

Tamworth Vs Hartlepool - Feint in the run up

AI says the success rates are similar at the professional level. Anecdotally at grassroots those who mess about seem to miss more. There's obviously a perception bias as misses and non-misses for stutter run-ups will be more memorable than someone who side foots it in the corner

    Newcastle v Brentford

@RefereeX Be very precise, and use the term non-deliberate handball. PGMO incorrectly used the term accidental, and if they're doing this routinely it's maybe why they're confusing themselves with the law Accidental handball is a term I'd only use for handballs given due to a goal being scored...

    Newcastle v Brentford

The hand was in an expected/natural position for me. The twitter match centre did say it was given for non-deliberate handling. Caution was given so must've been a DOGSO downgrade..

    LIV v MCI

Rare to see a penalty given in the EPL when the ball was going out of play

    Continuation holding and DOGSO

Inspired by the Brentford thread A holding offence starts outside the penalty area it would be DOGSO if play is stopped for a free kick, by the time they're inside the area the holding is continuing but it's no longer DOGSO. Perhaps due to the hold delaying them sufficiently, or a heavy touch...

Tamworth Vs Hartlepool - Feint in the run up

Disagree with this. This law is very simple and easy to enforce, astonished the officials in this game got it wrong. The Comms will be interesting! I'm not even sure it's a particular effective as see plenty of them missed, particular the Balotelli stutter types ones.

Tamworth Vs Hartlepool - Feint in the run up

Goal disallowed! According to Tamworth twitter a goal kick was awarded.

    Newcastle v Brentford

Not seen it but from that still it's in a natural position so no offence. It was given as a penalty so presumably he's leaned into it and deliberately handled it

Why is this a foul - Arsenal vs Man united - Maguire vs Jesus

This is a potent example of the difference between an attacking and defensive free kick at the top level. There is absolutely no offence here, the way the laws are written you can justify most decisions doesn't mean it was objectively correct. If anything Maguire is the one who steps in to...
