Player calls an Irish opponent 'Paddy'

Every Irish player is called Paddy, and every Welsh player is called Taff. Universal rule of grassroots football. If you think the insult is racially aggravated then act accordingly.

    Interfering with play?

Interfering with an opponent is what you're assessing here. Could make an argument he interferes with the goalkeepers positioning as he has to wait; as an obvious action was made it would only need to impact an opponent to be an offence. If offside was given I would have no problem giving a...

Man United Vs Leeds - Hair Pulling

@Ryanj91 The debate is that the only justification for violent conduct in law is the use of excessive force. On Monday Night Football they showed an extract from the PGMO hand book around hair pulling and presented it as law. @JamesL did you show something from IFAB that said that hair...

    Time is time...

He blows up when the ball reaches half way. Wouldn't surprise me if that was deliberate and he's misunderstood what he's been spoon fed about stopping play in a neutral area. I'm more concerned about the goalkeeper making zero effort to get back than the refereeing decision

    Real Madrid v Girona

Once asked Mike Dean at a meeting why he did no look cards as the perception of it was arrogance. After much irrelevant guffawing from those who thought they knew "they don't have to ask for the name at that level", he told me it was because he was nervous when showing the card.

    Time is time...

Bit of an extreme example, below, to illustrate what can happen. What strategies do people use to navigate attacks when, shall we say, time is very short. Seen some refs telling everyone it's the last play, but they can then put 10 players in the box which seems a bit of advantage to the attack

    Atletico v Barca VAR

First one was actually a second yellow, given for a free kick. (according to the Spanish instagram ref) Very clear DOGSO in my book, the goalkeeper was stuck in concrete. Understandable miss in real time. Think we discussed recently that the VAR intervention doesn't actually add anything when...

Only an 11 match ban? Absolutely shocking. Cases are often taken less seriously when a game isn't abandoned.
