    Insane Incidents

Bit off a bump here but what if it were a defender that pulled himself up using the crossbar to head the ball away?

    Chelsea penalty...

Doesn't bullet point one cover this exact situation though? Laws of the Game 2020/21 | Law 12 | Fouls and Misconduct Except for the above offences, it is not an offence if the ball touches a player’s hand/arm: • directly from the player’s own head or body (including the foot) • directly from...

Handling the ball - the way forward

Maybe leave it at 'deliberate' and add 'any contact with the hand/arm that leads to an advantage'. Carve out an exception for 'ball to hand' where it's impossible to get out of the way.

Studs up and a push in the back - A League

If this isn't geoblocked could some here offer an opinion on the 2 incidents shown. Ignore Bosnich's self proclaimed 'I'm an expert' carry on. (We're short on good football commentators here.)...

    Leeds v Villa

Play the whistle. Fair goal. Bielsa shouldn't have let them walk the goal in. Too many diving, prima donnas looking for the foul these days.

Bizarre one today - what do you think?

    Goal kick.

Quick indirect free kick in the box.

Yeah they're great. A lot of the discussion here seems to be about the minutiae as if the game is played on paper with a set square and a theodolite when in reality the game is quite chaotic. Yes #1 (the Falcao one) wasn't exactly in the right place and yes the referee was involved but for me...

Quick indirect free kick in the box.

Loads of free kicks taken quickly here where the ball wasn't on the exact blade of grass, where the referee was involved, when players were getting organised and the last one a you beaut indirect free kick in the box resulting in a goal after the referee hands the attacker the ball. (Horrible...

    QFK after SPA

That's what I thought. Shame though, as you say, in the above incident by the OP you couldn't let it play out and then book him.

    QFK after SPA

So can you come back and caution a player after the advantage has played out if a free hasn't been given? (If there were a foul that is. Say, grabbed his shirt to break up the attack but the player broke free.)

    QFK after SPA

Like I said probably way wrong.

    QFK after SPA

Yeah, let that roll and book him afterwards. That's probably way wrong but can't you book a player after the advantage has gone? (IE after the ball has gone out of play or there's a stoppage.) Isn't a QFK just a different type of 'advantage'?

Quick indirect free kick in the box.

Found this which has some interesting guidance. https://www.massref.net/ussfdirectives/Free_Kick_and_Restart_Management.pdf

Quick indirect free kick in the box.

Hahaha. It's all good. I know what happened and I'm very happy with how it all went down. (Enjoying the discussion between the posters here.)

Quick indirect free kick in the box.

Fair enough but I'd say 'cite' is more closely aligned to 'quote' in a strict sense. But in any case the point stands that in the 'official' IFAB LOTG there's nothing saying that quick free kicks can't be taken anywhere.

Quick indirect free kick in the box.

I didn't think I cited it. I said I got my LOTG book out and went to the 'guidance' section of the handbook. These handbooks are handed out every year at our preseason refresher course.

Beg your pardon it wasn't 'guidelines for match officials', it was 'Additional information for Australian Match Officals'. Uploading pictures now. Hold for 5.

Quick indirect free kick in the box.

Player unaware and hand in natural position, from point blank range with no opportunity to get out of the way. PLAY ON!!!!

Quick indirect free kick in the box.

@MIB: (Not sure how I quote just a portion of your above post) For me the fact you’ve let them try to start getting a wall together & then let the kick be taken quickly just doesn’t make any sense to me, it’s like your asking for trouble (like I said if it hits a hand that is not ready are you...
