JAP vs ESP Matchday 11 - Gomes (RSA)

Japan appear to be playing 3CB and 2WB. At halftime all three centrebacks have been booked - each of them in the last 7 or 8 minutes of the half. Shaping for an interesting second half!

What's the latest time in a game you've given a card?

Biggest cluster: Grand final in regional league From 62' onwards All three goals 1y 2 second yellows 1 OFFINABUS after fulltime Spectators on the pitch after fulltime Side that conceded all cards won the match. Correlation with intensity? Aside from this cluster, only two other yellows for the...

JAP vs CRC Matchday 7 - Oliver (ENG)

Well... That was unexpected. Japan to stretch the limits trying to claw it back?

JAP vs CRC Matchday 7 - Oliver (ENG)

Seems to be directing substituted players off at the nearest point. What a bloke - a man after my own heart.

    Verbal Abuse - Restart Question

Not sure it's an offence 'against' anyone. OFFINABUS doesn't require a victim, unlike VC. The offence is made out upon uttering the words - it doesn't matter where the words 'land'. IFK no matter what, in my view

FRA vs AUS Matchday 3 - Gomes (RSA)

Really good refereeing performance - nipped issues in the bud as they arose. Short sharp conversations around blatant fouls and holding before restarts. Cautions when Aus temperature increased as the scoreboard got worse. Very little in the way of dissent

FRA vs AUS Matchday 3 - Gomes (RSA)

Surprisingly... I think the skippies might want to start pressing a little harder. The frogs will come over the top if they keep sitting back. Couple of late challenges now into 55'

FRA vs AUS Matchday 3 - Gomes (RSA)

6 minutes added on before halftime. Seems a lot, but there was an injury to Hernandez. 1 minute might have been taken off that for the typical time celebrating the goal which happened shortly after. Other than that, uneventful so far

    Cancello v Trent

But a push in the chest while jostling may well not be careless. It's still a push.

    Boca Juniors v Racing

Can only assume it's a gesture well known in Argentina. My feeling is it has to do with bribery, but I am speculating wildly

No, I'm talking about the Cancello shoulder charge, as is the OP...

    City v Fulham..

He has run directly at the attacker and behind the ball, has looked for the attacker and found the attacker. The contact looks relatively heavy and there is an extension of the arm away from the body exaggerating the contact. Pen for me!

    Top VAR drama!

It would be because that's where the offence (interfering) occurred

    Top VAR drama!

    Just logical, really

    Top VAR drama!

Are we of the view that if the VAR review was for DOGSO outside the area that they would not have come back for a freekick?

    KFTPM - bizarre situation

I'm not sure I agree that it is a caution. But I'm sure it would have been taken care of by rules setting up sin bins by the associations

    Southampton vs Arsenal

Why would carelessness matter? It's a holding offence. You could ask 'was it trivial?' or 'did it in fact impede the attackers movement?', but it's just fundamentally wrong to import the notion of carelessness. Having looked at it, the arms of the defender don't look like they really dragging...

    Restart after restart

I don't think you would need to go back to the previous restart. Logically, the player is just being shown the caution later than he should have been - that doesn't mean the restart was incorrect. Imagine if R missed the flag, the goalkick is taken, and play continues until a foul is...

    KFTPM - bizarre situation

Is there a specific competition rule regarding how sin bins before KFTPM are dealt with? They wouldn't seem to me to fall under warnings or cautions, but nor are the send offs. Please bear in mind I have no experience with sinbins whatsoever
