    Brian Clough's view of referees

Wonderful stuff. Clearly nobody in TV-land was listening though

Just need another opinion on something

I get the difficulty with whipping out red when to those far away on the bench it would look like a non-incident but, for me, that phrase must attract a sending off. It is beyond disrespectful and tends into abusive, no matter the manner in which it is said. Loud blast on the whistle, call...

    Lemina Red Card

The player has run thirty yards towards the referee. The referee has stuck a hand out and told him it's not on. The player has continued. Referee's fault?

    Goalkeeper dissent

Depends on the rules. They're not uniform. I assumed this post was centred around the fact that he claims that the send off doesn't count. That being said, the norm where I am is that 2nd yellows can't be appealed mainly because the one week suspension would be served anyway.

    Goalkeeper dissent

Second this. I'd suggest any appeal will be met with bemusement.

    Eh?-League: Macarthur v Newcastle

Penalty awarded against MacArthur GK for a reckless foul after 45+change. You won't hear any dispute from me that football expects yellow but, for the love of god, this is red in rugby. Football's expectations constantly bemused me.

    LEE v WHU

I don't think the chance was as good as a penalty - ball game slowly from his wrong side and the keeper was charging him. That being said, I do think advantage should be considered when making these decisions and then clearly communicated

    I must be stupid.

I know this is the position of many, and I concur that the effect on the opposition was trifling, but in my view the offence in itself is not trifling. The subs were, minimum, 10 yards from where they were supposed to be. Everyone and their dogs know that the touchline delineates the field of...

WC Final - Argentina vs France

Not penalizing it by stopping play, but surely once the ball is gone the 4th is getting you over to have some words/issue one or two cautions? Not only are they off the bench, out of the technical area, some of them are 10' on the FOP! I would have thought Elfath would stomp that.

WC Final - Argentina vs France

I like the way this bloke just gets on with the restart. No faffing about with protests.

WC Final - Argentina vs France

Just saw a replay with multiple Arg subs entering the FOP before the ball went in the net. Lucky.

WC Final - Argentina vs France

Otamendi must be booked there. Definitely for holding, and definitely SPA. Secret directive in action? Edit: my bad, thought Otamendi had been booked in the first half
