If you genuinely only get dissent (of a sufficient level to warrant a card) in 1 out of 8 games then your league is fantastic or you are head and shoulders above my refereeing ability (quite plausible).
The No1 biggest factor in how much dissent I will get in a league is the actions of the other...
Some people are working very hard to justify allowing dissent to slide.
It's literally the easiest offense to identify.
If you're sin binning someone in less than 20% of your adult games, in most leagues you really are copping out.
We have the tools to deal with this and for some reason refs...
I'm amazed the 2 people in the world that think this is a pen happened to be officials for this match on the same day.
Embarrassing is an understatement.
Am I actually the only one who thinks it's a pen
Just looks like the keeper comes, completely misses and barges into the striker.
Not stone wall by any means but not a howler either.
Speaking of narratives...
I can't believe how hard you've had to work to justify some simple, inconsistent refereeing.
I'd struggle to find an Arsenal fan with this take.
I feel that if this is given then ANY contact in the area is a penalty.
If I have my fan hat on I don't want this or the Jota one to be penalties.
I also don't know how to quantify "how much" contact is enough for it to be a pen.
I wasn't giving him an assessment.
It would be awfully dull of us to argue about a 0.5 laws of the game mark difference.
Fine, I'll give him 67/100 in assessor land.
He also missed at least two easy USB cautions and some of the worst holding in the box I've seen this season.
RustyRef backs the ref. Big surprise.
Dissent caution given for something I saw four other times in the game (with no action taken). Did Odegaard actually make it through that game without a caution?
Absolutely nail on cautions ignored on the first half (all in the name of game management I'm...
I am basically repeating DJIC but:
That's fine as long as MO penalises every single dissent that continues (past his insta-caution) is punished with a 2nd.
The response by the club is pathetic, there is clearly no real remorse.
I think a prison sentence, ban from all football activities for 10 years and a 100 point deduction for the club would be fair.
You sound like a fan/commentator, not a referee.
"2 footed ref!!"
Perfectly possible to make a legal 2 footed tackle. (This isn't one of them).
The player is however, not in control.
That is why this is a red card.
Christ when did the use of the term "****housery" by anyone above the age of 12 become okay?
Grow up.
On a side note, absolutely no foul on the keeper here.
100% red card. I had to see a lot of different angles to see the contact (but that's what VAR is for).
I've had comments removed by the mods for much less than some of the stuff I've read here.
Consistency please gents!
