    2 Matches

Generally, I'd say give them a lot more responsibility. You know they are qualified (and obviously good enough to be there), and so it means you can leave a good section of the field to them. However, do just remember that you are in charge and that they are there to assist you, and not insist...

    Cautioning

Dan, would you be able to upload the photo if you have one? Also, I used this system in an academy match, but found it peeled off slightly, do you use 2 strips thick, or buy extra sticky tape? Cheers

    Ooh, exciting!

Congratulations! Sounds like a good one! Where's it at? I might try and pop down depending on KO time! Why so Dan?

    RA Conference

Yeah, I hope to be going to both parts, the conference on the Saturday and the youth event on the Friday at St. George's Park. Guess I may see you there?

    Hillsborough

One of my Saturday leagues, which I was officiating on the Saturday just gone asked us all to kick off 7 minutes late with the minute silence incorporated into it! :)

    Double jump

Some counties allow you to. This is the information that I have received from my county about it, although I am not on the accelerated promotion scheme, it may be different for you and your county. You have to have officiated 20 matches between 1st March and the 30th September, and another 20...

    Junior/Youth Abandonment

Jack, I can understand your point, but the 13 year olds leg isn't going to quickly worsen. Whereas, someone having a heart attack, or a stroke, would be time critical! I'm sure opayin meant by 'unimportant' that they are not as important as someone who is in limbo between life and death.

    1st assessment and development form

Haywain, you seem to have a bit of trouble with the club assistants (not through any fault of your own mind), however, I'd suggest going a game without them and seeing how you cope (unless competition rules state otherwise). If you find you don't need them, then you know you'll get a solid 3.5 x...

So, who is definitely going for promotion this year

Just to throw it into the mix @206eddy , we don't have to pay a penny (as of yet) for promotion in London!

    Promotion

Matt, in my county they don't. I don't think they do anywhere. They all have to competitive fixtures - as far as I am aware anyway!

    Junior/Youth 2 matches

Make it clear to the teams of the first match when you get there that you have another match afterwards and so would appreciate if they can start promptly. Make sure you're ready to go at 11:15 and haven't left anything to the last minute - also, try not to play too much extra time! Then with...

How old do you have to be to ref an under 16s game

Will, I found them a lot more physically demanding, as they can kick it a lot further and also move the ball a lot quicker (well some teams). But other than that, it is still 11v11.

    "Leave it!"

One thing that I have been told in respect to dealing with quick free kicks, is that if (it's in the last third) you get to the ball (without darting over, unless you have to), then make them wait for the whistle. Can make it easier to diffuse the situation and prevent a potentially awkward...

How old do you have to be to ref an under 16s game

Will, I wouldn't worry! I'm only 16 and have been doing Open Age games since I turned 16. Not as bad as some make it out to be! - or from my experience at least. You'll be fine!

Course Passed - First Game this Weekend!

Luke, one position that you should try, is standing on the goal line behind the 'back post'. Although you would generally use it if you didn't have CARs, it will still give you a different view point and means you can see if the ball went out, infringements and goal line incidents if they occur.
