    Gillingham Vs Crawley

https://www.skysports.com/football/video/26947/13470978/gillingham-2-2-crawley-league-two-highlights Start at 2:30 Corner comes in, ball comes back to taker straight from an attacking player, flag goes up just after the original taker touches the ball the second time. Ball lofted in and Dack...

    Clear DOGSO

A very good point well made. Had a men's adult game at the weekend where I cautioned a player for entering the fop without permission. Mix up on a substitution/injury incident/procedure. Had the player started to move onto the pitch and hardly come on, I'd have used spirit of the game and left...

    Standard Liege v Royal Antwerp

Says it all though, 3rd time cups had been thrown, makes me think as mentioned in the other thread, the Staveley incident wasn't an isolated incident in the match...

    2nd MDC

Do it, if just for the facilities, standard of games, things you'll learn from much more experienced referees. Even if you only have a season or 2 at 4, it's worth it.

Open Age Not so much an incident

I had this issue yesterday, my RDO told me CC would take precedence (I did email back stating I believed it was the other way round unless SF/F) but RDO said they'd take me off CC to keep the supply league AR officer happy. Would've been easier to replace me on the CC as was a more local game to...

    Argy bargy at corner kicks

I used to say that, then thought, what if I miss something, the players will use it against me, I said I'm watching but missed maybe an obvious pull as I was looking at a different area. Tend just to say 'nothing silly, nice and tidy' now, maybe 'end of the half so let's get there with nothing...

    Open Age Young referee threatened

I started at 28, had some life experience behind me, and even thought open age AR on a Saturday afternoon, and youth middles on a Sunday morning was a bit daunting at times.

    Quick question

Possibly, though he was an older chap who I don't recall mentioning promotion, but maybe he was going for it.

    Quick question

Can confirm that I ran the line to a level 5 either last season or the season before in the competition, I was a 4 at the time. Baffled me as to how it happened, but it wasn't a late appointment for anyone afair, so no idea what happened with that one.

    Liverpool Vs Bournemouth

2 subs started somewhere around 89:45, then a goal scored in the 6 added minutes, but AT pretty much blew on 96. What happened to more accurate timekeeping?

    8 second law example

I counted to 5 before he released the ball, I started when the player patted the goalkeeper. At that point all players were starting to move away and I was happy the GK was in control.

Deliberate Kick (not) to the goalkeeper

I would argue no, as at the point of controlling the ball, they weren't aware of the opponent approaching. Had they been, it would be a different story for me.

    Is this a foul throw?

I would've classed the clip above as a 'drop', rather than a throw. I may be wrong, but I don't see a throwing action. This is just another of those things in football that referees will never always agree on at times, just like handball, point of player becoming active for offside...

Decision on challenge - how would you have handled this?

Has the player jumped at an opponent? I'd argue not. I still think it's PIADM. Happy to be wrong though.

Decision on challenge - how would you have handled this?

I think I'd be going for PIADM Playing in a dangerous manner Playing in a dangerous manner is any action that, while trying to play the ball, threatens injury to someone (including the player themself) and includes preventing a nearby opponent from playing the ball for fear of injury. Best...

    Quick KO myth

A couple of times in my career I've had youth teams (u14/15) try to kick off after a goal because they are back ready in position, even though the opposition are still celebrating. I just blow the whistle to stop them, and inform them that they need to wait for my restart whistle. I think...

Throw ins- how far can the player get?

Not every referee let's players take about 5 metres either way. Often in the defensive area, and more so further back in that area, a bit of leeway will be given, as you go further up the field refs will be more picky. If teams want refs making players take throw ins, free kicks etc from the...

    U15 Tier 1 Bad Match

    Arsenal vs Lyon

Makes me think of 'look at players reactions to potential offside position - keeper line of sight'... If no one's calling for it, don't go looking for it!

    LOTG question

I'm sure we've had this sort of thing before... An indirect free kick is awarded if a player: plays in a dangerous manner impedes the progress of an opponent without any contact being made is guilty of dissent, using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or action(s) or other verbal...
