    ‘I did it on purpose’

Definitely continue with the FK... How many posts exist on this forum alone demonstrating players know their own mythical version of the LOTG. On previous posts, I'd be continuing with what you gave, let Billy big b*llocks have his 10 seconds showing off to his team mates. Probably a quick word...

    Cautions in youth football

Also bear in mind the role of a referee ad an educator in youth football... As said above, the bulk of fouls will come from lack of skill or coordination, but also a lack of knowledge. Clear warnings, use the coaches and talk to players. Stern words will probably have more of an impact than...

    Arsenal v Aston Villa

I wondered the same. It wasn't a subtle one either, ran across and jumped across the keeper releasing the ball. Given he'd already dished 3 yellows out I was expecting another for that. The Watkins caution in the first couple of minutes I can see why he showed a yellow. But I also thought it...

    9 V 9 Rules?

Where I referee (Notts) U11 will be their first encounter with offside and 9v9 football. Likewise for lots of the club ARs! Definitely still in the realms of educating as part of your match control, lots of kids still won't have a clue. If it's one of the delightful "pitch in pitch" scenarios...

    Girls Youth Football

Depends on the level of girls football you're doing vs the level of boys football you're used to! I find it's a lot more getting the ball down, passing it around. Lots more little nicks, careless fouls etc. If it's U16s, they know how to play and what's expected. So far I've also found...

    Nottinghamshire RA

If you get anywhere with Notts RA I'd be interested to know! I spoke to a few people a couple of months back and ended up with Newark (may just be a ref society rather than RA) as Notts said they were inactive at the moment... (Whatever that meant)

    Advice appreciated!

I think its a classic 'had to be there' but I can certainly see how it could be a red. Big fan of the comments above, everyone in football will always have an opinion. Sometimes they're useful, often they're not. Stick to your guns and own your decision... Sounds like you made the right...

    Youth football DOGSO

Out of curiosity... would you (or anyone else who wants to contribute) have shown the same for the offence much earlier in the match? And from what age group would you produce the red for that DOGSO?

    Club 'linos'

Evening all, Just after general thoughts... do you have club officials stay on the same side for 2nd half or swap sides? Thanks!

Junior/Youth New Ref... First match 9v9 advice

My 9v9 Sunday appointment was cancelled Saturday afternoon... instead I had myself a back to back of 7v7 mini soccer. Not too much to report on (funnily enough given the age groups) beyond my whistle tone being a bit weak. A double header of 9v9 appointed for next Saturday boys U11 and...

Junior/Youth New Ref... First match 9v9 advice

Thanks for the comments all... I'll definitely feedback after the match (regardless of how well it goes!) I've double checked on offside, it is played in this particular league. Entirely understand no one's constructive posts can cover every regional variation, nor would you be expected to.

Junior/Youth New Ref... First match 9v9 advice

Hi all, I've trawled this forum loads over the last few days, super helpful and so appreciative of everyone's contributions! I qualified as a ref at the start of August, and take my first fixture this weekend... Any top tips or advice? I have limited experience in football, I assistant-coach...
