Even if you say it’s a deliberate play, it’s a deliberate trip not a kick at an opponent. If he had kicked him deliberately I would 100% support a red card. You are being slightly misleading here by saying that all deliberate contact with a player is serious foul play. That’s a slippery slope...

I’m not arguing the merit of the laws of the game. That’s given as red card when it never is. Will be interesting to see what Howard says and I’m sure this will be appealed. FYI. Same match and this isn’t a red card.

    Wolves vs Arsenal

I will add that it took 3 further offences for the wolves player to get a second yellow including kicking the ball away (which the same ref sent an Arsenal player off for earlier this season) Also similar tackle to the one he got sent off for went without sanction earlier. No wonder fans get...

You’ve just got rid of a yellow card! Just go straight to red all the time. You are adding another level of subjectivity and that’s not something I can endorse. The decision here was shocking as once again it’s not what the rules state or what football expects. I will be shocked if this red...

I agree with you in theory that we should be able to issue a red for someone who makes no attempt for the ball, but that isn’t the rule. I can’t see how this is seen as serious foul play red card offence. For me this is crazy red card.

    ridiculous red card.

I remember it changing, but I wonder why. Under the old regulations, it’s not handball if it came off the same players head or body regardless of where the arm is.

What happened to the rule that if it comes off your body it’s not handball?

    Brighton v Arsenal

Easily. I’ve never seen them given where both players have made a connection with the ball and clashed heads and a penalty given. Now if we arguing that they should be by the interpretation of the game then that’s different.

    Brighton v Arsenal

We should have a poll on this. For me it’s a clash of heads. Stop game and restart with a dropped ball.

Ok. Show me when a player heads the ball onto the keepers arm and then the keeper makes contact where a penalty has been given?

    Brighton v Arsenal

Show me a penalty given where the keeper punches the ball and gets the player and a penalty is given? The reverse angle clearly shows that he got the ball and the collision was accidental. Both players focussed on the ball. It’s a clash of heads. Not a penalty.

    Brighton v Arsenal

So I waited until I saw this on match of the day and I’m sorry this is a shocking decision. Both got their head on the ball and it’s a clash of heads. Never a penalty. I can understand ref giving it in real time, but var not asking him to look at the screen?

    Brighton v Arsenal

If the keeper hits the ball first then you wouldn’t give it though would you. Or if a player knocks it onto his arm first?

    Brighton v Brentford

I’ve only just seen this and it seems a clear red card to me and seems that pretty much everyone here agrees. Not even a 80/20 split. We rarely get that on here. So if it’s that obvious to us, how did VAR not give it? Is this a fundamentally flawed system? As always consistency is the key. We...

Worst abuse and threats I have ever received.

I have contacted them and did get a reply. 3 year suspension and the club fined.

Worst abuse and threats I have ever received.

Just an update I received from one of the clubs. Apparently the player that threatened me and threw the ball at me has been banned for 3 years. That is harsh for an u18, but at the same time…….he threatened to punch me and threw the ball at my face. I’ll wait for confirmation from the FA on...

U18 match getting a bit heated. Player says to me that’s a booking ref! I say to him quite calmly….do you know that asking for another player to get booked is a bookable offence? He says “book me then!” I call him over and give him one last chance to apologise and he carries on so I gave him his...
