Why? Please explain reasoning. I’m not trying to catch you out. I’m genuinely always looking for the best way to referee.
For me he is off the ground, out of control with studs out. Surely that’s the very definition of dangerous tackle?
Thanks for that, totally get what you are saying. Yes he does throw it, but here is where I would like your opinion. It’s supposed to be one action with it start above your head. Is the end basketball style throw a separate action and therefore a foul throw?
I know, but we have to arrive 30 mins before kick off and additional time. So reality it’s like 2.5hours for £40.
Now when they drop that to £20 for AR then it’s well below minimum wage.
At least! Even at £40 for an u18 match is just about minimum wage when you consider travel time, having to be there at least 30 mins before KO, half time break and additional time.
They end up with younger refs, because it’s not worth it for adults.
Im hoping fees go up for next season as...
That’s awful. I’m surprised anyone turned up for finals after they found out they weren’t getting paid.
Suffice to say we both know to ask before accepting.
Just as an update. Club have been charged with multiple offences and players charged with violent conduct and an additional charge of violent conduct of attempting to assault a match official.
Finals day junior (u18 and u16) and they didn’t tell us fees in advance. Turned out they only gave £20 for being AR so doing 3 games on a hot day without any refreshments and they tried to charge refs for parking gave me £75 which I thought was very poor.
Compared to another league where I did...
You are correct, the league participants are a problem. It seems that 1 or maybe 2 clubs are ruining it for everyone. Bullying younger referees seems to work for them, but when an older ref then they resort to just pure abuse and threats.
I have learnt the same as you, being tougher with...
I get what you are saying, but surely it would benefit the game and hence the teams? Is rugby reduced in any way because of respect to the officials?
It’s sad that a league I’m in is struggling to get adult refs because of abuse.
I can’t agree with that. Look at rugby and how it’s officiated and how players address the official.
If this was implemented in football from the top and from the bottom, it would soon be the standard.
