    Missed tackle.

Which is exactly what I did. It worked this time, but in a higher edged game it might not work as well. I really enjoyed the match though. Overall it was played in great spirit. Every decision I made was accepted. I felt that I kept control well and tha wss probably as a consequence of being...

    Missed tackle.

I’m always looking to improve so would like some advice as I’m not sure how to do this better. I’m single ref with no assistance. Tackle from defender comes in and is clean, but ball bounces to another attacker who is clean through on goal. My attention immediately goes there as the keeper is...

    Grassroots is dying

Talking about original post. I feel you. We need tougher sanctions on clubs, coaches, parents, and players. From my experience, bad behaviour's stems from coaches/parents. I was seriously considering quitting at the end of last season, but I had some great support from people on here...

    Palace DOGSO

Should have added option of yes to DOGSO, but isn’t clear and obvious for VAR to get involved.

    Palace DOGSO

I’ll agree with most of that except direction of play was taking him wider. Is it a clear an obvious error for VAR to get involved?

    Palace DOGSO

Surprised no one has posted on this. Referee on field decision was yellow card and he was called to monitor to review. Referee stuck to his decision and for me that is excellent as I believe a yellow card was the correct decision. Saying that, let’s see what you all think. For me the touch...

    8 seconds not being enforced

I have yet to give a corner for the keeper offence. I demonstrate the 5, but keepers are certainly aware of this rule. I’m surprised if it isn’t enforced elsewhere.

Player asking if his keeper can pick up the ball from a potential backpass

Almost the exact same situation today while Being observed. Player attempts to clear the ball, but miskicks it back to keeper and keeper picks it up. Obviously the claim for a backpass, but I waved it away. In your case at an u15 match and a question is put to you, by all means advise them...

    Got confronted after the game

17 minutes is a lot, but manager shouldn’t confront you. Did he come onto the pitch to confront you? If he did, that’s a red card there. Sounds like you had an eventful match! I quite enjoy them.

    My First Match day coach

So I had my match day coach today. I have to say that I found the experience so valuable. Actually having someone who helps you improve. Yes he pointed out some faults in my game, but that’s the only way to improve. I know what I need to work on, but the overall feedback was positive. Tips on...

    My First Match day coach

Sound advice. I'm not looking at this as find faults, but more of a learning experience. I've made the decision that I want to become a better referee and go up through the levels. My ultimate aim is to reach level 3 and do the national league, but I am 49 and that might be out of reach. Maybe...

    My First Match day coach

So I have my first match day coach/observer tomorrow. I am slightly nervous, but the gentleman who is doing in has been very nice and helpful. Anything I should look out for to make sure I perform correctly? I'd like to to think I do things right every match!

Second yellow even though he got the ball

I need to work on my terminology and I know it’s important. On the new ref system it’s harder to pin down what to put everything down as. SPA ? Shirt pull. All used to have drop down menus and now it doesn’t.

Second yellow even though he got the ball

Must be something in the air today. 2nd match and another red card I. The 88th minute. Stupid one. Bad tackle and seriously it was orange. I decided on a yellow for a foul tackle and the kid walks shouts his name at me and walks away. I tell him to come back and he mocks me. So I give him a...

Second yellow even though he got the ball

I have to say. Bit of a feisty u18 match today. First half said player deliberately threw the ball at another players head from a throw in. Was so obvious although obviously he claimed innocence. I booked him for that. Then on 88th minute said player goes in for a tackle with a jump off the...

    New season, new league

So when do leagues have AR? I mean div 1 has AR. I’m hoping to do promotions through the next few years and hopefully reach level 4 eventually.

    Brentford vs Chelsea

Hey, I guess it’s subjective to a degree, but going back to the incident in question. The attacker who is offside clearly makes an attempt to play the ball. He misses it, but at that point he is offside for me and the call needs to be made. Especially as defenders, keeper etc….all adjust for...

    Brentford vs Chelsea

Sorry, but that’s not true and was clarified after the rashford goal against city a few years back. Rashford didn’t touch the ball or attempt to play it. He was clearly interfering with play though and so the law/guidelines clarifies to say that.

    Brentford vs Chelsea

The attacker tried to kick the ball which affects both the keeper and the defender who are drawn to this action. The attacker misses his kick and the ball moves to a player who isn’t offside and scores. Make of that what you will, but for me that’s offside. Maybe subjective, but a clear...
