    Man City v Arsenal

Actually, to be totally accurate it was in 1992 that it changed. As stated, the law change was intended to avoid timewasting.

Can you point out where they say that?

LEE v BUR penalty not given

I don't see that it's clear that the defender has played the ball at all. Maybe a slight touch but even that's not obvious to me. And the attacker hasn't fallen over the defender's legs, based on anything I can see - he's been taken out at the ankle, from behind, by a reckless challenge.

    Stranraer v East Fife

Yeah, me too. What offence is there here, that could lead to an IFK outside the penalty area?

    Anthony Taylor - You're a record breaker!!!

The law doesn't say it has to be an attempt to play the ball to avoid the red card. It can also just be a challenge for the ball, which I think this was. The law wording is: (Emphasis mine).

LEE v BUR penalty not given

Sure as heck looked like a penalty to me. He may have got a touch on the ball (though it's not even clear to me that he did) but even if he did, he's taken the man as well.

    IDFK Ball touch

Also to mention that if the second touch is a handball offence, then the restart is a direct rather than an indirect free kick (or a penalty kick if it's inside the penalty area).

Dutch FA consider abandoning offsides at grassroots football

I'm wondering what you mean by "when offsides were first introduced." Are you talking about when the first Laws of Association Football were adopted in 1863? Because even before then, all the other sets of rules, like Cambridge, Eton and Uppingham for example, had a version of an offside...

    True Story...

I guess you had to have lived in the UK (or a few other countries in Europe) in the 60's - 80's to get this one. "Treets were a brand of confectionery sold by Mars Limited in the UK, Italy, France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. The original product consisted of peanuts coated in milk...

    DOGSO from a free-kick

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned the following example of this, given that we've discussed it on here more than once.

    When does run up end?

The run up is finished when the player arrives at the ball and does not thereafter take any more steps before kicking the ball (or feinting to kick it, if they breach this part of the law). If you saw players plant their foot, draw it back, then pause and wait until the keeper moved, before...

When I worked at the United Nations, I was once asked to get Kofi Annan a gram of cocaine. After thinking about it for a while, I called him up and said, "I'm sorry Kofi, the only one I can think of right now is 'oceanic'."

    Ball Out of Play

That's a very bold claim to make - do you have any actual evidence to back it up? And - unless you saw him in the very early years of his career before he started doing games with assistant referees, I rather doubt that you've ever seen Pierluigi Collina give a ball in or out of play, as that's...

It seems that the England players will not be able to vote in the General Election. Turns out that when asked, not one of them could identify the box or was able to put a cross in it.
