    Junior/Youth Age group advice

If you feel ready, accept it. If not yet ready, what is the issue? At the age of 16 (in England) you can do open age (I. e. Adult) matches. As @DavidObs has said already, accepting a fixture should be the norm. If you think you're not ready after refereeing 60 games, consider carefully what else...

Changed drop ball law … devil in the detail

I fully understand "transition", as do the folks in this group. From current experience, however, it is not a word that Referee Developers would use with new referees, as most of the younger course members struggle to understand words like "rapport", "transition", and similar. Sad but true.

    Ref equipments

As with cricket above, BUCS hockey umpires at National Level are centrally appointed from the national umpires' list, so senior.

Changed drop ball law … devil in the detail

Most of our teenage learners would not understand "transition" (!) but the idea is sound.

Changed drop ball law … devil in the detail

The diagonal is still shown in the positioning guidance in the good book, but the accompanying text makes it clear that it is a guide only, rather than a specific "must run here" line. With our new referees going through the course, we suggest being on the move at all times, trying to anticipate...

    Ref equipments

Think carefully - would it make you a better referee? Clue: the answer is "no"

    Ref equipments

The University games are umpired by people on the ECB pathway, so some may have comms kits. The cost of vanishing spray is not something that most grassroots referees would welcome, given the other pressures on finances, and adds minimal value - it's an unnecessary gimmick at local level, in my...

    Mura vs Celje

If you think it merits a penalty kick, which part of Law 12 are you applying?

Coach refusing to come on for injured player

Law says the player must leave once you have authorised the doctor (or in this case the coach) to enter.

Quick indirect free kick inside the box

I suspect the OP is referring to a clip doing the rounds currently where the goalkeeper was penalised for a "back pass" and put the ball down. Quick thinking attacker played it backwards to a team-mate, who scored.

    Numbers on shirts

SCOR 19G: Shirts must be numbered. It's a mandatory requirement within SCOR.

    Qualifying Games

. . . and all the games need to be via an Appointments Officer (e. g. a league appointments officer). . .

    Clear DOGSO

At that age, I'd show appreciation for the other manager's generous approach but say "Sorry, no option" and send off the player. A note to the authority handling the case should result in leniency, hopefully.

    Important Apologies in advance.......

    8 seconds not being enforced

In my first 16 games as an Observer, it has been penalised twice. First was a 5>4 candidate, who reminded the goalkeepers before the game and penalised an offence after 2 minutes. Second was a Level 3. Two months in, so no need to brief the keepers. Clear and loud verbal count, plus the hand...

    Send off before kick off

A competition rules thing - which varies in nearly every competition where I am an Observer 😒

    Sin bins and half time...

Law 5 seems clear: "has the power to show yellow or red cards and, where competition rules permit, temporarily dismiss a player, from entering the field of play at the start of the match until after the match has ended, including during the half-time interval, extra time and penalties (penalty...

    reckless behavior

Depends how quickly the physio completes their work. If they don't delay the restart by more than 20-25 seconds, the injured player can stay on the field of play.

    Promotions period

If you are still a 7 or 6, there are usually three opportunities per season to move to the next level. Details will be on the County FA website.

    Brentford v Manchester City

I just checked with the FA - Observers are not allowed to die currently, as we are short of Observers nationally. Sorry😕
