    BRA v NFO

Two weeks ago I was the Observer at a match in which the away team captain was sin binned for dissent 8 minutes before half time. As the players wandered out for the second half, the captain came to the touchline and shouted to me "I wanna talk to you later. Dunno what he sin binned me for. I...

    2026 Potential Law Changes

Usual practice in World Cup years is to restrict the changes - we shall see. Presumably IFAB will need President Trump's approval to any changes?

    West Ham's Earring

There was an update around 2005 (@Peter Grove will know exactly) to say that tape was not acceptable.

    Annual level 5-4

Next question - have you confirmed that you are on the annual scheme (January to December) rather than the seasonal scheme (August to May)?

Level 4 referee averaging above 73

Promotion from 4 to 3 is not based solely on the average mark or Merit Table position. The website England Football outlines the way in which decisions are made.

    Law Question

IMHO, red cards can be issued in all 3 cases. The injured player can stay on the f.o.p. to take the penalty.

    Open Age Un...bloody...believable

If the alleged offender(s) pleaded guilty you would not expect to hear anything further.

    Level 4 & above fixtures

Depending where you are in the country, but at Level 4 you would normally get a middle or line most Saturdays. Remember also that late appointments take place if another official is unavailable for any reason. On Saturdays when not needed you can indeed take a local appointment if available.

    Contact lenses

I wore lenses for several seasons as a referee and AR, and rain/snow were never an issue. Good luck!

    Middlesbrough v Blackburn

A trip, or a deliberate kick on the leg of an opponent with no attempt to play the ball? An important difference . . .

Arsenal v Crystal Palace (EFL Cup)

I agree, more thinking that the powers that be dont want their poster boys looked at wrong (thats not implying bias, just that these are the ones bringing money in to the league by means of clicks on posts etc which is creating more for sponsorships and, there you have it, sponsorships soar)...

    Open Age Un...bloody...believable

Just remember not to say "swore" during the hearing - use LOTG terminology, i. e. Offensive, Insulting, Abusive.

    OFFINABUS after FT

Red card offence. Not heat of the moment, directed at you, public, ignored request to stop using unacceptable language. The manager may or may not have taken action, but it is likely that the player will be playing next weekend. As @one has said, first instincts are usually right. Next week's...

    Insulting Language

You were correct to issue the red card in this instance. Many referees at your level have taken to using the Sin Bin approach early in the game for any dissent bordering on O/I/A language . . .
