    formal complaint

Speaking as an ex-appointments officer, this is pretty standard stuff, they lost and just want to vent off. Refers to last man which is obviously irrelevant, then says that a reckless challenge should be a red card. File it under a waste of paper / a waste of digital ink. I wouldn't generally...

You edited the post and changed it from whatever was there to N\a I'll have a look in new referees but if it relates to the same incident why have you posted about it in two sections, and then deleted one of them?

    Hackett

Clattenburg has done referee commentary for ages, both on TV and in newspaper columns, as has Poll. I do have some sympathy, as retired referees they probably don't have much income, and didn't earn a huge amount when they were active. If broadcasters and publishers came to them we want your...

    Report my story comments please

Hasn't been deleted by an admin, I can see the history, so as late to the party I have no idea what happened. Will leave it a while but with no OP there's not a lot to discuss and it will have to be closed.

    celtic red card

I think the ball is going very wide so there's a question mark about direction, and by the time he gets it the defender in the middle would clearly have moved over so there's a real doubt about defenders. Should have been referee's call in my opinion, don't see how this can be a clear and...

    Palace v Chelsea

If PGMOL have incorrectly interpreted the law, and given out incorrect directives to referees, that potentially has serious repercussions. If, and I do emphasise if, that is what happened in the Palace game it would be clearly incorrect in law and it Palace made an issue of it there could be...

Huddersfield vs Luton - Hair Pulling

Not sure he tried to pull his hair, but he did. With VAR I don't think that gets given, but at EFL level they get one look at it. Perhaps he shouldn't have tried to pull the shirt?

    Arsenal vs Man Utd

Not for me, Yeah, that's where I'm at with it. He was falling over and it is completely natural to support your fall.

    Palace v Chelsea

Again I come back to hoping they haven't misunderstood the law, but if they have I think it is probably career ending. Certainly for Darren England given he was at fault for the Spurs vs Liverpool VAR debacle and a lot of people in football thought he should have been fired outright for that...

    Hackett

Same as I've said for ages, he will almost always say the opposite to what the referee did, even if that means contradicting himself over the course of the season. He clearly has a serious beef with PGMO and will bring that out at every opportunity. That said, if he just agreed with refereeing...

    EFL referee appointments

I actually said "it was 3 months ago, let it go". Which was intended to be advice as no football fan should be worried about what happened all that time ago, there was no intention to be rude, if you took it as being so then I apologise. But lets put a fork in this one as it is going nowhere.

    EFL referee appointments

If you are going to quote me on something as evidence of being rude, it would be a really good idea to quote what I actually said, at no point have I said that 🤷‍♂️

    Palace v Chelsea

I really hope I'm wrong, but it does feel like they might have misinterpreted the laws. Dale Johnson is reporting that Matt Donohue said it had to be a penalty because it stopped a goal bound shot, even though the hand was by his side, and that reluctantly Darren England agreed. That clearly...

    EFL referee appointments

Disagreeing with an opinion isn't rude or impolite, especially on a discussion forum. Not quite the EFL, but I appointed on step 5 of the women's pyramid where all games were played at semi-pro stadiums, so hardly a local league when teams are travelling as far as a 200 mile round trip. But...

    EFL referee appointments

I probably do in this case as I spent decades as a referee appointments officer and dealt with countless demands from clubs not to appoint a specific referee. Letting clubs decide which referees they do and don’t get is very much the tail wagging the dog.

    EFL referee appointments

It isn't "my site" so you are way off the mark there. Could they have given him a different game? Possibly, but I would argue why should they. If the previous game, and as I said before he could have got a great observation / evaluation mark on it, was a month before then I'd probably agree...

    EFL referee appointments

Don't see anything rude about that. 3 months is a long time ago, if every referee who had upset a team couldn't referee them again there would be games without referees.
  19. R

    City v Wolves

It's an acceptable position for me, when you are running and then slow down it is completely natural for the arms to come out.

    Level of Referee

I'm not aware of a publicly available database showing referee levels. It will exist on the FA systems, but access is restricted to them and the CFAs. I would often put the junior AR bench side, usually if the senior AR told me he had previous with one of the clubs. Pointless risking further...
