    Man City v Arsenal

Surprised it wasn't given as VC, and pretty sure it would have been had Haaland gone down holding his head. But not sure VAR can get involved, if Taylor has said he saw it clearly and didn't think it was violent, or there was minimal contact, VAR doesn't really have anywhere to go. He saw it...

Huddersfield Town v Cardiff City - Tues 14/04/26

Which is why I specifically said the top part of the defender's arm, as that clearly is used to determine offside.

Huddersfield Town v Cardiff City - Tues 14/04/26

In that second image I can definitely see a case that the top part of the defender's arm is very close to the attacker's leg. Impossible to know for sure from that angle.

    Bayern v Real Madrid

100% he forgot he had cautioned him, and I'd suggest a very similar percentage chance that he wouldn't have cautioned him again if he had realised. I only switched over from the Arsenal game at half time, and that's partly because I fell asleep so couldn't turn over, but from what I saw he was...

    Refstech electronic flags

A 9V battery is a 9V battery in terms of powering. They will all work, some will work longer than others, some might be rechargeable, but down to personal choice. I always personally used Duracell batteries in my buzzer flags as they lasted longer than cheaper brands, I'd rather pay the...

Man United Vs Leeds - Hair Pulling

Doesn't the fact he made two grabs at the hair sway you towards it being deliberate? I might give him the benefit of the doubt if it was just once, but can it be an accident twice in the space of a second? Possibly, but that would be incredibly bad luck.

Man United Vs Leeds - Hair Pulling

Agree with that, apart from the bit about the players understanding. They clearly don't given they keep doing it, and their managers back them 🤷‍♂️

Man United Vs Leeds - first goal foul on Yoro?

Physical contact doesn't make a foul, and unless I'm not remembering it correctly there wasn't a single complaint from any United players. Not even Fernandes, which pretty much made it the only point of the game that he wasn't running after the referee moaning.

Man United Vs Leeds - Hair Pulling

I think there are a number of factors here. It happening so soon after the very clear missed red card in the WCL game will no doubt have led to it being front of mind of all officials. I do tend to agree that the force used here was negligible when compared to other hair pulling incidents, but...

Number of game at level 4

May be a London thing, there are a huge number of step 3 and 4 clubs within easy travelling distance of me. I also got a lot of late replacement appointments, presumably because of the proximity to so many clubs.

    Molten Valkeen Authenticity

I'm yet to observe or coach a referee who has been able to use one to their benefit. It is so difficult to control the tone with it, meaning that even a basic foul sounds severe. They were designed to be used inside loud stadiums, I really can't see the benefits at grass roots. The only use I...

    IFAB changes for 26-27

Yep, that's exactly where I'm at with it. Its like a footballing edition of the Darwin Awards, albeit with slightly less severe endings.

Number of game at level 4

Don't think it has changed much over the years, and I've always said to those going for L4 to assume they will only get one step 5/6 middle a month. Might pick up extras through rearranged games, cry offs, etc, and FA / CFA competitions, but not to go into it assuming you'll be in the middle...

    Real Madrid v Girona

It is retro weekend in Spain where clubs are wearing retro kit, match officials are joining in.
  15. R

    Atletico v Barca VAR

Think that was different though as Mings was outside the goal area so even more clear he couldn't pick it up.

Martinelli incident - Southampton vs Arsenal FA Cup QF

Agree, one was a very angry player manhandling the referee the other was a player stupidly pushing the referee to try to take a quick free kick. Martinelli shouldn't have done it, but it was nothing like what Mitrovic did. To touch on another point that has been raised, the FA can't charge...

    Josh Smith Portsmouth v Oxford

I'm comfortable with red there, there's no doubt it was a lunge and he appeared to lunge towards the opponent rather than the ball.

    Have you ever ...

Saw this and it got me wondering, how many of us have gone to the wrong ground, or perhaps on the wrong day? A referee I know (100% not me) caused a step 3 game to be delayed after he drove himself and his colleagues to the secretary's house, sure they would have been made welcome but the...

    WHU v LEE

Also whilst the media and fans piled on the 11 minutes, it was pretty much irrelevant as West Ham equalised after 6 minutes of added time and no one could possibly argue that was excessive.
